Here’s a Memorial Day weekend safety post you can use for Bonlee Fire Department:

🇺🇸 MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND SAFETY 🇺🇸

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day weekend, let’s all do our part to stay safe while honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

🚗 Never drive impaired or distracted
🔥 Use caution with grills, fire pits, and outdoor cooking
🌊 Wear life jackets while boating or swimming
☀️ Stay hydrated and watch for signs of heat exhaustion
🐾 Never leave children or pets in a hot vehicle
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals and follow local laws

Whether you’re traveling, enjoying the lake, grilling out, or spending time with loved ones, we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

☀️ HOT CARS CAN TURN DEADLY IN MINUTES ☀️

As temperatures rise, remember that the inside of a vehicle can heat up dangerously fast — even with the windows cracked or on mild days.

🚗 In just 10 minutes, a car’s temperature can rise nearly 20 degrees.
🌡️ Heatstroke can happen quickly to children, pets, and even adults.
🐾 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle for any amount of time.

Safety Tips:
✅ Look before you lock
✅ Keep vehicles locked when parked
✅ Place a purse, phone, or shoe in the backseat as a reminder
✅ Call 911 immediately if you see a child or pet alone in a hot vehicle

A stroke can happen to anyone, at any age — and every second counts. Knowing the warning signs and acting FAST could save a life.

Remember the acronym B.E. F.A.S.T.:🔹 Balance – Sudden loss of balance or coordination🔹 Eyes – Sudden trouble seeing🔹 Face – Face drooping on one side🔹 Arms – Arm weakness or numbness🔹 Speech – Slurred or difficult speech🔹 Time – Time to call 911 immediately

Quick action can make all the difference in recovery and survival. Take a few moments this month to learn the signs, share the information, and help protect your family and community.

Standing at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, you can’t help but feel the weight of every name etched in stone.

Each one represents a life of service, courage, and sacrifice — a hero who answered the call, no matter the cost.

Today, we fly our flags at half-staff in honor of these hero’s and we remember not just how they died, but how they lived: with bravery, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to their communities.

We carry their legacy forward in every alarm we answer, every life we serve, and every brother and sister we stand beside.

Gone, but never forgotten. ❤️🔥

This weekend, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. During National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, we remember those who gave their lives protecting our communities and keeping others safe.

Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

We also stand with the families, friends, and departments who carry on their legacy each day.

Please join us in taking a moment to reflect, remember, and honor our fallen heroes.
