What is this project?

The Kentucky River District Health Department, and three students from the Lee County ATC HOSA program partnered together for a to***co retail project. The purpose of the project is to prevent and slow the sales of to***co products to underage youth, show how advertisements target the youth, and prove the easy access of these products to our youth. On August 26th we visited 13 to***co retail locations in Lee County Kentucky. We conducted a survey at each location looking at product placement, signage, and personally asking questions to the staff. If needed, we provided the locations with 21 tool kits which contain the correct signage they needed.

Please plan to attend a presentation by HOSA members Lesha Gross, Willow Tipton, Billi Brandenburg and KRDHD Susan Kincaid on their grant/research project on the access of vaps and va**ng on Lee County. The presentation will be Thursday November 6 during Student Showcase at at Lee ATC 5pm.

Lee ATC student Olivia Flinchum has installed a blessing box in downtown Beattyville and will be taking donations during Student Showcase. If any community member would like to donate any non-perishable food or items, such as winter hats and gloves or socks, please feel free to drop them off.

Come see the amazing work of our students as they present projects and skills from multiple programs. Community partners will also be on site in our lobby to share resources and opportunities.
The CTE Advisory Committee meetings will take place during the event, and light refreshments will be provided.
