Happening right now: This opens up the last piece of the waterfront in the Boundary Street passive park - a true partnership with the community, City Beaufort SC Beaufort County Government SC and Open Land Trust.

The old United Way building, which for several years has housed Beaufort County's Department of Engineering, has been demolished. This is in accordance with the City's plan toward making this part of Boundary Street, along Battery Creek, a beautiful passive park that truly serves as a gateway to the City. The views of the marsh along here are just breathtaking!

The demolition began this morning.

The park was closed for eight months for $2 million-plus in upgrades including a lighted causeway and boardwalk.

Check out this volunteer opportunity in advance of Earth Day - coming up April 21st!

The Earth Day planning team met with neighboring counties to discuss the Beaufort County Regional Earth Day Cleanup. This event will take place on Friday, April 21st, 2023. This event will cover Beaufort Jasper, Colleton, and Hampton counties. In attendance were Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper Counties, Hardeeville Police Chief Sam Woodward, Hampton County Sheriff Anthony Russell, Lieutenant Charles Williams of JCSO, Officers with Ridgeland Police Department, and the City of Walterboro.

The Rural and Critical Land Preservation Board visited protected property at the headwaters of the Okatie River. Thanks to the County Channel for capturing this important property!

Take a walk through the Okatie Regional Preserve, and see the beautiful grove of white oaks and the headwaters of the Okatie River.
