LIBPA is a state chartered, community organization founded in 1981 to allow all residents and businesses to have a voice in the direction of growth on Lady's Island
How does it work? In addition to the normal officers such as President, Secretary, etc, the key to our success is having a Board of Directors with members who represent Lady’s Island on the County Council, Planning Commission, School
Board, Fire Commission, Transportation Committee, Parks and Leisure Board, Pathways, Chamber of Commerce and similar county level boards and committees. When County Council or Beaufort City Council is considering subjects that affect our Island, representatives of LIBPA will attend the meeting. If action is being contemplated that will have an effect on the Island, LIBPA will attempt to inform the residents through its monthly newsletter and community web site (www.libpa.org). If appropriate, LIBPA will have a representative publicly support or oppose the action. In some cases, a private meeting with key individuals is more effective. As a public service, LIBPA will sponsor forums for political candidates and special events designed to provide information to the residents of Lady’s Island. Each monthly meeting will include a speaker on a subject of interest related to Lady’s Island. LIBPA is a key player in the question of annexation, zoning, roads, transportation, tax incremental financing, and new development. Who should join? Any business or resident who wants to know what is happening and have a voice in the Lady's Island’s future. What does it cost? The annual dues are $45 for which you get a monthly meeting (2nd Tuesday of each month at 8AM at Beaufort Realtor’s Association Headquarters Palmetto Business Park, Lady’s Island Drive, 22 Kemmerlin Lane, with a special guest speaker, a monthly newsletter with information about events that affect our Island, social functions and representation whenever the future of Lady’s Island is being considered.
