It is illegal in Texas to abandon an animal in a person’s custody without making reasonable arrangements for another person to assume custody of that animal.

Unfortunately, this law has not stopped individuals from abandoning dogs at the LNVA Saltwater Barrier boat ramps and entry road. If you see anyone abandoning animals at this location, please call 311 to report the person or persons involved. Helpful information to give the operator would be license plate number, make and model and color of vehicle, and best description of the person or persons and the animal being abandoned. For more information on Beaumont’s free spay and neuter program and owner surrender options, please call Beaumont Animal Care at 409-838-3304.
