Pastor Kyle had the chance to worship with and preach for the incredible folks at First United Methodist Church, Orange, Texas this morning, sharing a message that Jesus redefines what it means to be a king, how to forgive, and even how to live a good life.

Thank you to First UMC Orange as always for being our partners in ministry to SETX!

With the devastation that hurricanes have caused to Southeast Texas and our nation, it's crucial that we not only stand strong *during* the storm, but also work together to pick each other up afterwards.

In this week's newsletter, Pastor Kyle says that this is what it means to be resilient and talks about how crucial resiliency is for both the physical storms we face and the ones that batter our faith.

Pastor Nathan Hodge of Trinity United Methodist Church tells us that abundance is a mindset where we must resist the temptation to simply trust in ourselves and our abilities and instead trust in God. And when we live abundantly we might find peace, security, and a growth we never imagined possible!

Thank you to Trinity UMC for continuing to be an amazing partner of ours and doing abundant, life giving work here in Beaumont!

How can we be a good church? One way is by not showing favoritism, by welcoming all, not just tolerating, and loving people stains, rips, and all. Pastor Jared Grosse from FUMC Winnie-Stowell shared this big question from the book of James this morning.

Thank y'all for being an amazing church and community and for always being willing to support us at Lamar Wesley!

Pastor Nathan Hodge at Trinity United Methodist Church wowed and impressed with his musical talents while also delivering a powerful sermon on how hope is what lets us live for today and that no matter what darkness may be around us now there will always be a dawn that breaks through.

Thank y'all as always for being wonderful partners in ministry!

Pray that students find:

love for their neighbors, their enemies, and especially themselves,

a moment to pause when there doesn't seem to be time to,

peace for minds and hearts to stop racing,

endurance for the marathon that is each semester,

faith when the dark seems impassable,

and an assurance that they are loved by God and by you.

Pastor Jeremy Wester challenged us this morning with a difficult question. Are we sure enough in God to let go of everything else that we're sure of?

It's a simple lesson, but when people or things work together, they are often stronger and capable of doing more things than by themselves. The same is true for us at the Wesley, we need your help so that we can continue to do great ministry here at Lamar!

Worship looked a little bit sweatier this morning and no not just because the A/C is out. Wesley students spent the weekend working with Cy-Hope Disaster Recovery Network and Cy-Hope to provide relief for victims of Hurricane Beryl! We're dedicated to being the church outside the walls of any building and if that means the joyful noise we're making this Sunday morning is the sound of sledgehammers, chainsaws, and four-wheelers, so be it!
