🔥BURN BAN STILL IN PLACE LOCALLY🔥

While Governor Pillen officially lifted the statewide burn ban today, the ban locally will remain in place.

Beaver City Fire will NOT be issuing any burn permits for the foreseeable future.

While we did receive some much-needed moisture in the last 24 hours, it was not enough to change the status of our fuels. The local area remains extremely dry and is still at an increased risk for rapid fire spread.

Despite the statewide ban being lifted, local fire chiefs still retain the authority to restrict burning based on local conditions.

Please avoid any outdoor burning and use caution with any equipment that could spark a fire.

We will resume permitting again, if and when the conditions become safe to do so.

Thank you for your cooperation, and as always, your continued support.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Monie family. Godspeed Chief.

Yesterday morning (March 29) at approximately 1:30 am, BCVFD was called for mutual aid for a fire south of Bertrand. We responded with:

2 - Type 6 wildland engine
1 - 3,000 gallon tanker
6 Firefighters

While the tanker and 1 engine returned in the early morning and mid-morning a relief crew came up for the remaining type 6 engine. That crew and engine remained on scene for the day and returned home around 9:30 pm last night.

Please continue to be vigilant as dry conditions in the area remain. Hopefully the rain stays in the forecast for later this week 🤞

Be cautious today with outside activities!

Nearly the entire state of Nebraska is under a Red Flag Warning today.

We’re seeing a dangerous combination of record-breaking heat, historic temperatures, ongoing drought, and strong winds: the kind of conditions where fires can start easily and spread fast. We've seen it this past week with the state's largest wildfires on record.

It’s also important to remember: 90% of wildfires in Nebraska are human-caused. That means most of these fires are preventable.

Please do your part:
• Avoid any outdoor burning
• Check for dragging tow chains
• Ensure tires are properly inflated
• Don’t park hot vehicles or equipment in tall grass

It only takes one spark. Stay alert and help keep Nebraska safe.

We just wanted to jump on clear up any concerns from the citizens in our fire district. Whenever we get called for mutual aid or a task force deployment to another fire, we NEVER leave our own fire district unprotected.

If it is a local mutual aid call, our current protocol is to send no more than 2 rigs and our tanker as needed, with the accompanying personal, depending on the situation. This leaves plenty of equipment and personal in our district to handle its protection.

As for the South Central Wildland Taskforce that we participate in, similar policies are in place. The taskforce was designed to allow us to send a team of local resources to a major fire for assistance, without depleting the resources still at home. On these task force deployments, we sent no more than one or two trucks with 2-5 personal with a team from the Furnas and Harlan County area. This allows us to work as a team with individuals we are familiar with, while providing support outside of our normal mutual aid territory.

We appreciate your continued support of the fire department!
