This week, our cadets focused on water movement and hoseline management. Cadets operated:

1 ¾" handline
2 ½" handline with a blitz nozzle/master stream device
Deck gun with a smooth bore tip

Great hands-on training building confidence and proficiency in real-world fireground operations.

We invite you to join us for our pancake breakfast and open house event on April 4th at the BD Fire Station. Advance ticket sales offer a discounted rate, while tickets purchased at the door will be at full price. Tonight our cadets practiced establishing water supply using fire hydrants. This is a foundational task on the fire ground.

Recently, our cadets enhanced their training by practicing medication administration techniques, utilizing needles and syringes to inject saline into oranges, in addition to refining their two-minute drill skills. The necessary supplies were procured through a grant received from the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation. This support enables our program to train these cadets to an exceptionally high standard, preparing them for EMT classes and future EMS service. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation for this grant opportunity.

Last night, our cadets trained on the topics of search and rescue. This included a PowerPoint on tactics, practicing basic movements, going through basic search techniques, and performing SCBA confidence drills. Search and rescue is a foundational concept on the fire ground and is vital to the survivability of our citizens in a house fire.

This past week, our cadets trained on ice rescue operations!
They practiced deploying the Rapidly Deployable Craft (RDC) and had the opportunity to don cold-water exposure suits and enter the water in a controlled, supervised setting. This hands-on training is always one of their favorites each year and helps build confidence, teamwork, and real-world rescue skills.
