π World Elder Abuse Awareness Day June 15th π
At PAVE, we recognize that abuse can affect individuals of every age including older adults. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is an opportunity to bring attention to the mistreatment, neglect, and exploitation that too many seniors experience every day, often behind closed doors and in silence.
Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, verbal intimidation, and isolation. Many older adults may feel afraid to speak out, worried they will not be believed, or dependent on the person causing them harm. That is why awareness, education, and community support are so important.
Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, valued, and cared for at every stage of life. No person should experience fear or abuse in their own home or from someone they trust.
Today, we stand with survivors and continue working to provide support, advocacy, resources, and hope for vulnerable adults in our community. We also encourage everyone to check in on elderly loved ones, friends, neighbors, and community members. A simple conversation, visit, or act of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
Together, we can help prevent elder abuse, support survivors, and build a community where all people are treated with dignity and compassion.
If you or someone you know needs support, help is available.
