✅ COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES RESTORED

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to report that all communications services have been fully restored following today’s outage.
911, radio communications, and non-emergency telephone lines are all operational.
We appreciate the patience and understanding of the public while our communications and technical staff worked to resolve the issue.
Thank you to our staff for their quick response and efforts to restore these critical services.

The Beaver Dam PD has identified and interviewed 3 individuals in connection with over 30 vehicles that were egged last night. They are cooperating and will be issued numerous citations.

If you witness any crime at any time or you have video that you think would be helpful to an investigation, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are open 24/7/365. While posting videos and pictures on community social media pages is great, it is helpful if you provide it directly to us as well.

If your car was egged overnight last night, please contact us to make a report.

On Sunday, July 26th, 2026, at approximately 2:02am, City of Beaver Dam officers responded to the 100 block of Ryan Cantafio’s Way for a report of a large physical fight that was in progress.

Upon arrival, there was a large group of people still on the roadway actively attempting to fight one another. Officers located two male subjects that sustained substantial head injuries during the physical altercation that were transported by Beaver Dam EMS to the Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam for treatment.

This is an on-going investigation and anyone with information pertaining to the incident is encouraged to contact the City of Beaver Dam Police Department at 920-887-4612.

On Sunday, July 26th, 2026, at approximately 10:18pm, City of Beaver Dam officers were made aware of a traffic complaint that was southbound on Highway 151 near Redwood Road of a motorcycle turning its headlight on and off while traveling at excessive speeds.

While investigating a separate complaint, a City of Beaver Dam K9 officer observed a motorcycle matching the description of the traffic complaint traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on N Spring Street near Industrial Drive. Upon passing the officer’s marked patrol car, the operator of the motorcycle immediately began to accelerate and reached speeds estimated to be approximately 80mph. The officer lost visual of the motorcycle as it continued southbound on N Spring Street at a high rate of speed.

A City of Beaver Dam patrol sergeant observed the same motorcycle shortly after, again traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was attempted due to numerous traffic violations, however the operator of the motorcycle failed to stop and again increased speeds in excess of 90mph as it attempted to flee from officers.

The operator ultimately lost control of the motorcycle while attempting to navigate a curve at the intersection of N Spring Street and W Mackie Street. The operator of the motorcycle sustained a substantial leg injury due to the crash.

As standard procedure when involved in a pursuit with a subsequent crash, the Beaver Dam Police Department has requested an outside agency to investigate the incident. At this time, the Dodge County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Team (CIT) will be investigating the crash.

Detective Kuhnz and Shainna Hannaman presented on frauds and scams yesterday. Our goal is to educate the public about this devastating topic. If we can prevent just one fraud, we have done our job.

📚Helping Comfort Children, One Book at a Time

The Beaver Dam Police Department is grateful to receive 20 Reach Bags through Reach A Child, made possible by the generous support of Meta.

Each Reach Bag, valued at $150, contains 20 age-appropriate books for children ages 2–12. Research has shown that providing a child with a book during a traumatic or stressful situation can be even more effective than a teddy bear in helping to comfort, distract, and calm them.

Reach A Child distributes more than 30,000 books each year to first responders across Wisconsin, helping make difficult moments a little easier for children and families.

In addition to being available for officers responding to calls involving children, these books will also be used during community events such as National Night Out, Cops & Bobbers, and other community engagement activities to help build positive relationships with the children and families we serve.

A heartfelt thank you to Reach A Child and Meta for investing in our community and helping us make a positive difference in the lives of Beaver Dam’s youngest residents. 📖

⭐️Officer Spotlight⭐️

This officer spotlight features Sergeant Jesse Shilts. He began his career with BDPD in 2016 and he is currently a Patrol Sergeant on 2nd shift

During the last 10 years, he’s had the opportunity to work as 2nd shift patrol, a field training officer, a member of the drug unit and a member of the emergency response team. He’s still actively involved with the Bike Unit, the Field Training Program and other various assignments

Sgt. Shilts said he loves working in Law Enforcement for many reasons. “I enjoy the challenges and the excitement of the job.” Additionally, he said “I also love having the opportunity to represent law enforcement, BDPD and our community. I’ve learned that you may not be able to solve every problem, but we get the chance to impact people daily. I think it’s important to be fair, treat people well and to help people out when you’re able to.”

Outside of work, Sgt. Shilts enjoys the outdoors, music, various sports and mostly hanging out with his family and his dogs

Sgt. Shilts said he would encourage anyone considering a career in Law Enforcement to reach out to a few departments and request some ride alongs. He is passionate about mentoring officers and seeing their success on the job. “The best way to decide if policing is for you is to understand what the job is like and to get to know some officers”
