At last count, we’re already over 158 shares on the giveaway post! We seriously can’t thank everyone enough for helping us spread the word.

The chicken is currently resting comfortably in the air conditioning, swimming in some pretty tasty marinade and getting ready for tomorrow! 🤤

On July 7, 2026, at approximately 2:05 p.m., the Beaver Dams Fire Department, Montour Falls Fire Department, Watkins Glen Fire Department, and Tompkins Corners Fire Department were dispatched to the Catlin Town Highway Department for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, fire crews were met with heavy fire and smoke conditions throughout the structure. After several hours of fire suppression efforts, the fire was brought under control. The scene was then turned over to Chemung County and Schuyler County Fire Investigators for further investigation.

The members of Beaver Dams Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the Montour Falls Fire Department Festival & Parade for allowing us to be part of such a great event this weekend!

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the Clam Shack throughout the weekend. Your support means more than you know and continues to help us improve and grow as a department.

Thanks to the dedicated individuals within our department, we were also able to field three pieces of apparatus in the parade — Engine 5, Engine 7, and our brand new 👀 Rescue 1, which is set to go in service very soon!

The new Rescue 1 is a Brand new Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, replacing our current aging Rescue 1 unit. Rescue 1 serves as our primary EMS response unit, handling a wide assortment of EMS calls while also providing rehab support at fire-related incidents.

This new unit will feature a completely updated radio system, upgraded emergency lighting, modern siren technology, and most importantly — reliability for our members and community when it matters most.

None of these upgrades would be possible without the incredible support from our community and neighbors through our many fundraisers and events. From all of us at Beaver Dams Volunteer Fire Department Thank you for continuing to support your local volunteers!
