East Side Drive Paving Update

East Side Drive paving will begin tomorrow with initial work lasting for one day. The road from King's Highway to just before the Welke runway will be one lane, passable by cars and managed with a flagger at both ends to direct traffic flow. There will be no complete road closure while this work is performed. Work will continue on East Side Drive when the airport rehab is completed. The exact date has yet to be determined. I am estimating sometime during the week of 6/22.

Constituents have mentioned the high buildup of the road surface leading into businesses and the transfer station. Reith Riley has confirmed this is standard practice to prepare for paving and the end result will be sloped paving into each location for vehicles.

Communications will continue as more information becomes available.

Thank you and enjoy your day!

Mike Boyle's Beach - A message from the Supervisor

Last fall, the Road Commission and Peaine Township agreed to take the appropriate steps to ensure that Mike Boyle's Beach was clearly defined so that both property owner rights and public access were protected. In the past week, we have been able to complete the project.

As promised, the Road Commission initiated a formal survey. Using those markers, Peaine Township installed split rail fencing to clearly define the boundaries. Peaine Township Parks and Recreation/Maintenance installed the fencing and also built an attractive barrier for the trash receptacle and dog bags available for use by the public. Signs were installed clearly delineating the boundaries and the Road Commission provided gravel to create 5 parking spaces, removed from the round-about so vehicles do not block the road. Moving forward, any confusion surrounding the use of the beach should be eliminated, with documentation on file for future Peaine Township boards to review if a misunderstanding were to arise.

I want to thank property owners and the public for their patience as this project was executed. I would also like to thank the Road Commission for their support in resolving community concerns. Enjoy your day!

A Community Update on Paving East Side Dr.

Starting Tuesday of next week, East Side Dr. will begin to be prepared for the upcoming paving project. The preparation includes grading, ditching, culvert installation, and final stump removal. During the preparation phase, traffic will mostly be able to traverse using one lane. Flaggers will be assisting the project and at times, when the road is impassable, these flaggers will be directing traffic appropriately. I do not anticipate a disruption in the homeowners ability to access their homes during this project.

I will continue to update the community as information becomes available.
