SCAM ALERT — GIFT CARDS ARE NOT PAYMENT!

We’ve recently seen an increase in scams involving Facebook Marketplace and other online buying/selling sites, including KSL Classifieds.

Scammers may:

* Ask for gift cards as payment or a "secondary” form of payment
* Require a deposit before completing a purchase or rental
* Claim you must pay a gift card or other fee before a package can be delivered
* Create a sense of urgency so you don’t have time to think it through

NEVER use a gift card to pay a deposit on rent or a purchase. Legitimate sellers, landlords, and delivery companies will not require gift cards as payment.

If someone tells you that you need to pay for a package to be delivered—especially a package you weren’t expecting—STOP and think before you pay.

Think logically. Slow down. Verify.

Be cautious when using Facebook Marketplace, KSL Classifieds, or other online sources. If something feels unusual or too good to be true, it may be a scam.

When in doubt, don’t send the money.

Stay safe and protect yourself from scammers!

We’re excited to welcome everyone back for another school year! From all of us at the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office, we wish our students, teachers, and families a SAFE, HAPPY, and SUCCESSFUL YEAR! ❤️

We’re also excited to have Deputy Schena and Deputy Van Wyk serving as our School Resource Officers (SROs) this year! If you see them—or any of our deputies—in the schools, be sure to give them a fist bump and say HI! 👊🏼

📸 ONE QUICK SAFETY REMINDER

We love seeing those first-day-of-school pictures! Just remember to share the smile, not the personal details.

A simple “First Day of School!” and a smiling picture is a great way to celebrate while keeping personal information private.
