Beaver County OK Conservation District

Beaver County OK Conservation District We assist with the development and implementation of conservation practices that benefit the public as well as conserve natural resources.

The Beaver County Conservation District with technical assistance from the Natural Resources Conservation Service is here to lead, assist and provide for the care and protection of natural resources in Beaver County. Together we deliver leadership through local led meetings, work group meetings, and conservation planning. Jointly we assist land users, communities, and landowners (both rural and ur

ban) to develop and implement voluntary conservation practices that benefit the public as well as preserve our natural resources. We provide needed equipment and supplies to carry out those conservation practices. In 2021 we were unable to hold our annual local led meeting, so our information is based on surveys sent out in partnership with the local NRCS office with the purpose of gleaning information from local producers and landowners/users on the needs of our county. The public is invited to fill out a survey at any time. Since 1999 we have offered our producers the state cost share program for needed practices. Pumping plants, firebreaks, water wells, watering facilities, pipelines, prescribed burns, and brush management practices have been offered. We are extremely proud of the assistance we can offer the land users in Beaver County. We have just closed the application process for Cost Share #23. We had 22 applications. Those applications will be evaluated with the assistance of NRCS and ranked according to need. The District stays abreast of the programs and requirements for the NRCS programs offered through our office. We can direct producers to those programs which most meet their needs. All programs conducted by both NRCS and BCCD are compliant with all requirements of respecting nondiscrimination as contained in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture (7 C.F.R. Section 15.1-15.13), which provides that no person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits or, be subjected to discrimination under any activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

BCCD made a big SPLASH last Wednesday when we hosted an outdoor classroom for 3rd & 4th grade students from all around the area. The students learned about water conservation and why it is important. They dissected trees, climbed the dunes, and played games

To many state agencies, volunteers and friends showed up to help to name them all here. We owe them all a BIG thank you!!

LEARNING CAN BE FUN!!!

This is the new commissioner for our area. Mrs. Wilcox will represent Beaver and surrounding counties at the state level. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Jessica Wilcox for her nomination as Area 1 Commissioner for the Conservation Commission!

Jessica Wilcox serves as a director for the Major County Conservation District in Fairview, Oklahoma, and has served on the board since 2018. In addition to running a full-service Crop Insurance Agency, Jessica and her husband, Clint, rotate crops, including wheat, canola, milo, soybeans, and run a few head of cattle on their farm near Fairview.

Jessica will succeed the current Area 1 Commissioner, Dan Herald. Dan has served on the Oklahoma Conservation Commission board since 2021. He has also served as a longtime Texas County Conservation District Director and the Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts' Vice President. We are grateful for Dan's continued commitment to conservation in Oklahoma.
