The Brighton Township Police Department would like to make residents aware of a game that is often played by high school students this time of year called β€œAssassins”. In this game, participants attempt to eliminate other players using water guns or similar toy devices.

While intended to be a harmless game, these incidents can cause concern for residents who may observe individuals running through neighborhoods, hiding near homes or vehicles, or carrying objects that may appear to be fi****ms. We have received numerous calls about suspicious situations and people over the last few days. The majority of these calls have come very late into the evening and early morning.

Please remember that responding officers must treat any report of a person with a gun as a serious situation. What may be a game to participants could be perceived as a real threat by the public.

Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the potential risks associated with playing this game in public areas. We ask participants to use good judgment and understand how their actions may be interpreted by others.
