WV Senate President Randy Smith has my full support as he leads the senate. Despite continual criticism since day one, he has focused on advancing economic development, addressing infrastructure inadequacies, and fearlessly promoting WV values. These are desirable traits from a man who fears God and has a distinguished career as a coal miner and a public servant.

Sen. Rollan Roberts won the Republican primary for 9th Senatorial District on Tuesday, defeating Dr. Michael Antolini and Adam Vance in a three-way race across Fayette, Raleigh and Wyoming counties.

Roberts secured 3,104 votes (44.6%), fueled by a strong majority in Raleigh County, while Antolini received 2,336 votes (33.6%) and Vance finished with 1,514 votes (21.8%).

I want to give God the glory for the primary election victory. Also, I want to thank my family, church and school family, and everyone who supported me despite the constant lies put out by one of my opponents who disgraced his profession.
My campaign did not mail, advertise, or post anything negative towards either of my opponents. I believed that it would compromise my integrity, but I admit that it’s hard not to strike back against ruthless and reckless accusations. I did have to state facts to counter the lies or they would have influenced more people. Outright defamation in any political contest is totally unacceptable. However, it does reveal the true character of the candidate and his campaign team when they practice such behavior.
I cannot overstate my appreciation for every person who stood with me publicly, because that took courage too.
