We’re beginning to move in the right direction after decades of neglect. The governor listened and is leveraging federal resources to multiply state dollars. This is how big projects are accomplished. Thank you, Governor Patrick Morrisey!

The $145 MILLION in new state investment from today’s announcement will help unlock hundreds of millions of additional water infrastructure monies.

This will put West Virginia on pace to secure more than $1B in total projects within Governor Morrisey’s first term.

Today in Beckley, Governor Morrisey announced the next major step in improving West Virginia’s water infrastructure with the new Clean, Clear Water Strategy.

The strategy will help small water systems compete for funding, get stalled projects moving faster, focus resources on communities with the greatest needs, modernize outdated utility laws, and give taxpayers a clear picture of the results.

Marshall University, West Virginia University, and our 11 Regional Planning and Development Councils are joining the effort to bring grant-writing and technical expertise directly to communities that need it most.

Earlier this month, we traveled across southern West Virginia to hear directly from people dealing with these challenges every day.

We listened. We learned. Now we’re acting.

Any help is appreciated in mitigating the current recovery needs. Efforts to protect communities from future flooding must be continued and even multiplied all across West Virginia. With the possibility of 10-12” or more falling in a concentrated area happening every year, we must assess the risks. We must also create effective strategies for the possibility of our local area becoming impacted by unusual rainfall.

Our friends in Pax and surrounding area need help following the devastating flooding.

Pax Town Hall is distributing cleanup supplies and needs donations and volunteers.

If you can donate, volunteer, or simply share this post, please help. West Virginians take care of our own. 🇺🇸

RALEIGH CO. is growing its businesses! For the last year, we have been in the top four counties registering new businesses. In July, we ranked second in the state with new businesses registered. That’s powerful evidence that good things are happening and the future is looking good.
