Good morning Beavercreek!

In case you missed it, we had some snow overnight! We wanted to share a couple safety reminders because of the drifting snow.

First, make sure your exhaust vents are clear of snow. The drifting snow can easily pile up and block them

And secondly while you're outside, clear a 3 foot circle away from any fire hydrant in front of your house. This saves us valuable seconds in the event of a fire.

Finally, stay warm, stay safe, and stay inside!

Beavercreek Firefighters are going red for a cause this month!

January is Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month, and these shirts represent our commitment to protecting those who protect you and supporting those fighting this terrible diagnosis

For our crews, the "toxic cocktail" of chemicals found in modern fires isn't just a hazard—it’s a life-threatening reality.

Why we wear these shirts:
The Leading Threat: Occupational cancer is now the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths in the fire service.

Staggering Loss: In 2025, nearly 80% of the names added to the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial were lost to occupational cancer.

Increased Risk: Firefighters have a 9% higher risk of being diagnosed with cancer and a 14% higher risk of dying from it compared to the general public.

High-Risk Types: Our firefighters face a 58% higher mortality rate for skin cancer and a 40% higher rate for kidney cancer due to the nature of the job.

These shirts are a symbol and reminder of the risks we face, and support for those battling the various forms of cancer. Keep an eye out for our members wearing them throughout the community this month!
