Good Morning Beaverdam! I just wanted to take a minute to let you know what is going on at the Beaverdam Depot. I know a lot of folks have been curious as to what we are doing. Well, if you have been there in that last few years you may have noticed the puddles of water in the middle of the floor or the rotted wood on the sliding doors. After placing a roof on 2 years ago, we decided to work on this water issue next. To take care of this problem we needed to take care of the loading dock outside. (It sat higher than the inside floor.) We decided to take it out and make it lower. Well, after talking with the railroad, part of the deck was on their property. We decided to enlarge the deck down the side of the depot to ensure we have more space. In talking with the railroad they reviewed the deed (written 30+ yrs ago) and it stated that we, the Depot, were to construct a fence down our property lines. We have tried to get around this, but between our insurance and the railroad company, it is a must. We are planning on a putting up a split rail fence with some fencing stapled to the back of it to ensure kids can't climb through. This is not something the Depot wanted, but we are dealing with it. The fence will keep vehicles a safe distance away from the tracks when parked, as well as children and adults. Thank you for your support and understanding. -Crystal T***s
