As the first person in my family to graduate from college, I started my teaching career as a high school science teacher as Southridge High School in Beaverton, Oregon, and taught there for six years. After receiving a doctorate in Educational Leadership, I taught education coursework at Portland State University and am currently doing similar work at Oregon State University. As a member of the Be
averton community, I value my own volunteer opportunities, both in the community and in the schools. A little about my background, I grew up in Hillsboro, Oregon where my parents owned a small trucking company. My husband is an engineer with the Oregon Department of Transportation, and we have two middle school children in Beaverton. I am running for the School Board because of a deep commitment to our community and our children. I have personally witnessed the profound impact education has on a child’s future and the future of our community. If you honor me with this office, I will make students our first priority in policy and budget decisions. I will use taxpayer dollars wisely by supporting what is working and having the courage to discontinue what does not produce results. I will build trust by seeking and listening to the voices of all stakeholders, including parents, staff, students and the community at large.
