This month’s theme - Learning as We Grow: Exploring Growth Edges in Adoption Conversations

Adoption conversations can bring up moments where we’re challenged to learn, reflect, and see things differently. This month, we’ll explore those “growth edges” with curiosity, openness, and compassion while making space for meaningful conversation and connection.

What to expect: gentle prompts, space to share (or just listen), and a community that gets it. 💛 We’ll be hosting two intentional spaces: an adoptee-only chat and a parent/loved one chat.

You might know Ties for our heritage trips, but that’s just the beginning. ✈️

We’re so much more than travel. We create community, amplify adoptee voices, host educational programs and events, make space for hard conversations, support adoptees and their loved ones, and so much more.

Because getting on a plane is only one part of what we do. ❤️

There’s nothing quite like seeing a Ties trip through the eyes of someone who experienced it firsthand. ❤️

One of our travelers, Elizabeth Davis, captured their experience on video, from the places we visited to the moments, connections, and memories made along the way.

We’re so grateful when our travelers share their stories and give others a glimpse into what a Ties trip is really like.

The first few days of our Moldova Ties journey have already been filled with so many meaningful moments and memories 💛🇲🇩

This year is especially bittersweet. It’s our first, and likely our last, Ties journey to Moldova, which makes every conversation, every connection, and every shared experience feel even more meaningful.

We’re soaking in every moment with this incredible group and feeling so honored to be part of their stories. 🇲🇩✨

If there’s a birth country you’ve always dreamed of visiting and you already have a group interested in traveling together, we’d love to hear from you! We also invite you to explore the other countries we currently offer. Your journey back to your birth country may be closer than you think. 💛 🔗 thetiesprogram.com/heritage-tours

🚨 A message for the U.S. intercountry adoptee community 🚨

The Adoptee Rights Law Center has issued a travel advisory urging intercountry adoptees to avoid domestic travel in the US unless:
1️⃣ Your travel is absolutely necessary, AND
2️⃣ You are traveling on a valid U.S. passport.

This isn't meant to create panic. It's a reminder that many adoptees continue to face legal vulnerabilities that most people never have to think about. If you're an adoptee, please take a few minutes to read the advisory in full so you understand how it may apply to your situation before making travel plans.

This is also a powerful reminder of why adoptee rights advocacy remains so critical. No adoptee should have to question their legal status, citizenship, or ability to safely travel because of circumstances completely outside of their control.

Please read the full advisory, stay informed, and share it with the adoptees and loved ones in your community. Awareness can make all the difference. 💛 https://bit.ly/ARLCAdvisory

What a weekend. 💜

We had an incredible time at the BIPOC Adoptee (BIPOC Adoptees) Voices Conference in Portland and left feeling so full from the conversations, connections, and community we experienced. It was an honor to meet so many adoptees, loved ones, and advocates who are working to create spaces where adoptees can feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, shared a piece of their story, asked questions, or simply said hello. We’re so honored to be part of this community. A special thank you to Autumn Autumn Ackerson and Liz 권리즈Liz Kwon for representing Ties throughout the weekend. 🤗

We’re also incredibly thankful to the organizations we had the opportunity to collaborate with throughout the weekend. Thank you to Adoption Mosaic Adoption Mosaic , AIRE Roots AIRE , Adoptees of South America adopteesofsouthamerica , and Rewriting Adoption Adoption Education & Adoptee Advocacy for partnering with us to host meaningful events that brought people together. Community is stronger when we build it together, and we’re left better to have shared this weekend with each of you.

Until next time, Portland. 💜
