Beaverton Police and Community Partners Help Local Kids Head Back to School in Style

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, the Beaverton Police Department joined community partners for the annual Shop with a Cop, Back to School event, helping local children start the new school year with confidence.

Beaverton Police officers spent the day shopping alongside local children for new school clothes, shoes, backpacks and other back to school essentials.

The event was made possible through the generosity and support of the , , , , who came together with the Beaverton Police Department to support children and families who may otherwise struggle with the expense of preparing for a new school year.

For the officers involved, the event is about much more than shopping. Shop with a Cop gives children an opportunity to spend positive, one-on-one time with police officers while picking out items that reflect their personalities and help them feel excited about returning to the classroom.

“Every kid deserves to walk into school on the first day feeling confident and excited to be there,” said Officer Matt Henderson. “This event is a great example of what can happen when our community comes together. We’re incredibly grateful to all of our community partners who stepped up to invest in these kids and help make the beginning of their school year a little more special.”

Events like Shop with a Cop are possible because of the strong partnerships between local law enforcement, businesses, nonprofit organizations and members of our community. Beaverton Police Arrest Suspect, Recover Stolen Mail and Evidence of Widespread Identity Theft

A Beaverton Police Department investigation that began with the arrest of a wanted man led officers to recover hundreds of pieces of suspected stolen mail and identity-theft evidence, stolen financial documents, credit cards, passports, counterfeit postal keys, drugs, and other suspected stolen property.

On August 14, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a Beaverton Police patrol officer was patrolling the Redwood Creek Apartments on SW Windmill Drive when he recognized Joseph Daniel Gregori exiting a vehicle. The officer knew Gregori had an outstanding felony warrant related to burglary, aggravated theft, forgery and conspiracy charges stemming from investigations in Clackamas County.

Gregori was taken into custody without incident.

During the arrest, officers developed evidence connecting Gregori to the fraudulent use of a victim’s credit card. The victim later confirmed several unauthorized transactions had recently been made using the card, including purchases at GameStop and other businesses.
Officers subsequently obtained a search warrant for the vehicle Gregori had been occupying.

During the search, officers recovered a significant amount of property believed to be connected to mail theft, identity theft, forgery and other crimes, including:

•Hundreds of pieces of suspected stolen mail and identity-theft related documents.

•At least 34 credit cards that appeared to have been removed from mail, along with additional unopened credit cards.

•Numerous stolen and altered checks, including checks connected to individuals and businesses.

•Three U.S. passports not belonging to Gregori
Driver licenses, Social Security cards and other personal identifying information belonging to multiple victims.

•Counterfeit U.S. Postal Service master keys
Thousands of collectible trading cards, including Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering and sports cards.

•Approximately 1.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

•Burglary tools

Investigators have identified numerous potential victims in Oregon and Washington and are continuing to determine the full scope of the suspected criminal activity. Evidence recovered during the investigation included financial documents and personally identifying information connected to dozens of individuals and businesses.

Gregori was lodged at the Washington County Jail on charges including Aggravated Identity Theft, Mail Theft, Identity Theft, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Burglary Tools.

On August 21, 2026, Gregori was indicted by a Washington County grand jury on charges of Aggravated Identity Theft, Mail Theft, Fraudulent use of Credit Card, Identity Theft, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Gregori is in custody at the time of this release.

Because investigators recovered counterfeit U.S. Postal Service master keys and a significant amount of suspected stolen mail, information from the investigation is also being forwarded to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

This remains an active investigation.

Seeking Witnesses & Video Footage | We are seeking anyone who may have witnessed or captured video footage of a crash that occurred Saturday night, August 15, 2026, at approximately 11:45 p.m., involving a Beaverton Police officer and another vehicle. The suspect vehicle ran a red light, causing the collision.

A passenger in the other vehicle was transported by Life Flight with significant injuries. The officer was transported by ambulance with significant injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing, and investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have video footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.

Beaverton Police Increase DUII Enforcement for Upcoming Labor Day Holiday

BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Beaverton Police Department will have additional officers on the road beginning August 19th as part of a nationwide effort to keep impaired drivers off our roadways during the Labor Day holiday period.

From August 19 through September 7, 2026, Beaverton Police will participate in a DUII High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) campaign, placing additional officers on patrol specifically focused on identifying and stopping impaired drivers.

The increased enforcement is made possible through a partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Alcohol, ma*****na, prescription medications and other drugs can impair a person’s ability to safely operate a vehicle. Beaverton Police remind drivers that impairment can begin before a person feels or appears intoxicated.

If your plans include alcohol or any other impairing substance, make a plan before you go. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare or taxi, or arrange to stay where you are. Never get behind the wheel impaired, and never ride with an impaired driver.

Motorists who see a suspected impaired driver are encouraged to call 911 when it is safe to do so.

The Beaverton Police Department is committed to reducing impaired-driving crashes and keeping our community’s roadways safe throughout the Labor Day holiday.

The Beaverton Police Department is working with the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office following the discovery of a vehicle associated with two Beaverton men who have been missing since September 2025.

The missing men are Eddie Curtis Hair, 67, and Scott Jon Smith, 68, who were last known to be traveling together in late September of 2025. Hair and Smith, who were close friends, were believed to be preparing for an outdoor trip involving camping, hiking, or searching for rare rocks.

On August 14, 2026, loggers working in the Jones Creek area off Highway 6 located a vehicle that appeared to have left the roadway and rolled down a steep hillside.

The vehicle was identified as the red 2005 Jeep Wrangler associated with Hair and Smith.

Human skeletal remains were located with the vehicle. Based on the information currently available, investigators believe the remains are likely those of Hair and Smith. Official identification of the remains has not yet been completed.

According to the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office the location and condition of the vehicle are consistent with a motor vehicle crash. The vehicle sustained significant damage after leaving the roadway, with debris located throughout the surrounding area.

Hair and Smith were reported missing after they failed to return from their trip and could not be reached. Since that time, Beaverton Police detectives have continued investigating their disappearance and attempting to determine their whereabouts.

The Beaverton Police Department is working closely with the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Medical Examiners Office as the investigation continues.

The Beaverton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of assaulting a Latino man in what investigators believe was a bias-motivated attack.

On Friday, July 10, 2026, the victim, who is of Latino descent, was remodeling a local business in the 12700 block of SW 3rd Street in Beaverton when he was approached by the suspect.

During the encounter, the suspect told the victim, “You don’t belong here,” before tackling him to the ground and punching him multiple times in the face, causing injury. The victim and witnesses also reported the suspect yelled racial slurs during the time of the assault.

Based on the investigation, Beaverton Police have developed probable cause to arrest the pictured suspect for Assault in the Fourth Degree and Bias Crime in the First Degree.

The suspect is described as a white male adult, approximately 30 to 40 years old, with a heavy build.

The Beaverton Police Department is asking for the public’s help as detectives investigate a serious assault that occurred during the early morning hours of August 4, 2026.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., Beaverton Police officers located an adult male lying on the sidewalk near SW Lombard Avenue and SW Canyon Road. The victim had been badly beaten and sustained significant injuries to his head. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Based on video evidence collected during the investigation, detectives believe the victim (pictured before the assault occurred) was assaulted sometime between approximately 1:50 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on August 4, 2026.

Investigators are working to identify the person or people responsible for the assault and are asking anyone who may have witnessed or heard anything suspicious during that time to contact police.

Investigators are seeking information from anyone who was in or around the Beaverton Transit Center, SW Canyon Road and SW Lombard Avenue, or the shopping center near Big 5 Sporting Goods during the early morning hours of August 4, 2026.

UPDATE: BEAVERTON POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN AUGUST 4TH STABBING

Beaverton Police detectives have arrested a Portland man in connection with an August 4th stabbing that left a 30-year-old man critically injured.

On August 4, 2026, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Beaverton Police officers responded to the area of SW 107th Avenue and SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway following reports of a stabbing.

Investigators determined the victim was stabbed following a confrontation with an individual associated with a dark gray Honda Odyssey. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 28-year-old Cory M. Klein of Portland.

On Thursday, August 13, Beaverton Police investigators located and arrested Klein in Southeast Portland. Investigators also located the 2006 dark gray Honda Odyssey believed to be associated with the incident.

On August 19, 2026, a Washington County grand jury indicted Klein on the following charges:

Attempted Murder in the Second Degree
Assault in the First Degree
Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Klein remains in custody at the Washington County Jail at the time of this release.

The Beaverton Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance as detectives investigate a stabbing that left one man critically injured last Tuesday morning.

On August 4, 2026, at approximately 5:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of SW 107th Avenue and SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway following reports of a stabbing.

The preliminary investigation indicates a 30-year-old man was stabbed after a confrontation with an individual associated with a silver van. The associated van is believed to be an early 2000’s silver colored Honda Odyssey.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries . The victim is still hospitalized at the time of this writing.

Detectives are working to identify the suspect and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the vehicle involved to come forward.
