As the sun comes up we can get a better look at the damage and debris path left behind. We were very fortunate that Beckemeyer missed a direct hit by just a few 100 yards, as well as Carlyle as it lifted just before it got to town. You can see in some of these photos, the damaged power poles and lines hanging. Please avoid these areas. Our linemen are still out working to get everything to 100%.
As a typical Monday for us, we were having training last night. First responders were doing Continuing Education, the others were out training on hydrant connections and pump operations. Once the weather moved in firefighters reported back to the firehouse and stayed there monitoring weather conditions. As it hit Germantown we were outside the firehouse and could hear it rolling just south of town moving east. We knew there would be damage. All 4 of our apparatus along with 2 from Carlyle FD and 1 from Bartelso FD were sent out to survey damage and make contact with those immediately affected, as well as secure roadways blocked by downed lines. Huge shout out to a few entities out there throughout it all. Clinton County Sheriff's Dept dispatch was amazing as usual. The multiple Ameren, Clinton County Co Op, and sub contracted linemen who are still out there working. The Clinton Highway Dept for relieving us for traffic control on Bartelso Rd. So thankful for no reported injuries throughout our County. Thoughts go out to those affected..
