Veteran Fraud Alert: Protect Your Personal Information

Veterans have reported receiving unsolicited phone calls regarding home telehealth equipment. During some of these calls, individuals have requested sensitive personal or financial information, including Social Security numbers and credit card information. These reports have characteristics consistent with a phishing scam.
Protect yourself:

•Do not provide your Social Security number, credit card number, banking information, or other sensitive information during an unsolicited phone call.
•Do not click suspicious links or respond to unfamiliar texts or emails.
•If you receive an unexpected call regarding VA services or equipment and are unsure whether it is legitimate, do not provide personal information. Verify the request through your trusted VA care team or established VA contact.
•Review your financial statements and health care bills for activity or services you do not recognize.

🚩 Remember: Scammers may attempt to create a sense of urgency or appear to be calling from a trusted organization. When in doubt, protect your information and verify the caller independently.

If you believe your identity or financial information has been compromised, act quickly by contacting your financial institutions and taking appropriate steps to protect your accounts and credit.
