***Please Note***
Backyard chickens can be a wonderful addition to a home — but it’s important to know that poultry can carry germs like Salmonella, even when they look clean and healthy. That’s why a few simple habits can make a big difference:
--Wash your hands after touching birds, eggs, or anything in their coop area.
--Avoid kissing or snuggling birds.
--Keep poultry supplies outside of your home.
Young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to get sick, so extra care around flocks helps protect everyone.
Healthy birds and healthy families go hand in hand.

Let's Talk About Measles!!
According to the CDC, there were 1,362 confirmed measles cases reported in the United States as of March 12, 2026.
That's a lot! For reference, there were a total of 2,284 confirmed cases in all of 2025, 285 confirmed cases in all of 2024, and only 242 confirmed cases in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 combined.
The best defense against measles is the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine, which is 97% effective at preventing measles infection, after two doses.
