Today, we pause to remember and honor our fallen brother, Sgt. David Lilly, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the citizens of Beckley 51 years ago today.

Though time may pass, his courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We continue to honor his memory and the legacy he left behind within the Beckley Police Department and our community.

End of Watch — Never Forgotten. 💙🖤

Sergeant David Lilly was shot and killed during a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 19/21 bypass and New Raleigh Road (present-day South Fayette Street) shortly before midnight.

Today, Sgt. Snuffer volunteered his time to read to a Pre-K class at Crescent Elementary School and gave the students an up-close look inside his police cruiser.

The Beckley Police Department would like to commend Sgt. Snuffer for taking the time, even on his day off - to serve our community and help build positive relationships with some of our community’s most valuable and important members, our children.
