It has come to our attention that the State Central Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia decided today to “remain neutral” on three abominations disguised as amendments to the Virginia Constitution, set to be voted on in November. Those three amendments would do the following:
1. Surrender the standard of what marriage means and has meant for all of human history.
2. Allow FELONS immediate restoration of their ability to vote in our elections.
3. Enshrine the right to murder children in the womb up until the time their head is crowning (and probably after, as long as you “keep them comfortable” as they are slaughtered).
Upon hearing these three propositions put forth by Richmond Democrats, revulsion is the proper response. “Neutrality” is unthinkable.
If the Republican Party of Virginia is no longer capable of defending even our most elemental values as Republicans, then they are in fact as worthless as most of us in Bedford County and the surrounding region have felt for a long time. It seems many of the soft (and we do mean SOFT) Republicans which control our statewide apparatus still believe that refusing to propound, argue, defend, and run on the principles which define our party and have made our nation great for 250 years is the key to winning elections. Rather than doing the hard work of turning the tide in the Commonwealth by engaging our citizenry with conviction and truth, they would rather allow far left liberals to set the playing field and continue to pull the window of public discourse firmly to the left. Apparently this strategy of the GOP’s Bend-Over Brigade “leading” us to a 15 point defeat statewide and a 64-36 minority in the House this past fall didn’t convince them that perhaps it was time to change course and actually run boldly on the values we claim to hold dear.
If our state party will not lead on the defense of our principles, rest assured that Bedford County Republicans will. Marriage is the sacred union between one man and one woman, the building block of the nuclear family, and the foundation of a healthy society. Felons forfeit their right to choose those who lead our communities when they commit the horrible crimes that tear it down, and any decision to restore that right should be reserved for rare instances and made on a case by case basis. The defense of innocent human life in the womb against murder for convenience is necessary and fundamental as people who know we are created in the image of God, and we will not cede an inch on that front.
In the words of John F. Kennedy, ironically a Democrat who shares nothing in common with the Democratic Party in America today, “The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in a time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.” The Republican Party of Bedford will not remain neutral on these issues or any others as Democrats seek to destroy the fabric of what has made our Commonwealth great for generations. If you cannot stand with the feckless and flaccid decisions of our statewide party, we invite you to stand with us in Bedford County.
