📢 Important Update: Hoopla Service Suspended for the Remainder of 2026

Effective June 30, 2026, Hoopla service has been suspended for Bedford County library patrons for the remainder of 2026.

This was not an easy decision. Library funding has remained largely flat for many years, while the cost of providing services continues to increase. The unsuccessful county library millage referendum last year, combined with the significant growth in Hoopla use, has made the service financially unsustainable. In fact, demand for Hoopla grew so much over the past year that the library system has already exhausted the amount budgeted for Hoopla in 2026.

At this time, no decision has been made regarding whether Hoopla will return in 2027. The Federated Library System of Bedford County will evaluate funding priorities during the 2027 budget process.

The good news is that Bedford County library patrons still have access to thousands of e-books and audiobooks through our other digital library services. If you'd like help getting started, stop by or contact your local library—we're happy to assist.

Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to support your Bedford County libraries.

Guess what time of year it is! It’s the annual “Christmas in July” quilt sale!

The pieceful quilters donate their time and materials to fundraise for the library. We are so thankful for their 9th year of helping us in this way! We are so excited.

Stop in, buy some stuff! All proceeds benefit the library.

Hello friends!

There is no internet at the library today. If we don’t have it by noon, we will unfortunately have to close. So sorry for the inconvenience!

This also means no fingerprinting today, as our computer cannot connect to the server.

📚 Hoopla Update from the Library

We’re thrilled to see how much our community is enjoying Hoopla! From movies and TV shows to audiobooks, comics, and music, it’s been wonderful to see this resource so widely used.

To help ensure we can continue offering Hoopla throughout the year, we’ve implemented a monthly usage limit to better manage costs and keep the service sustainable for all patrons.

Because Hoopla operates on a pay-per-use model, each checkout has a cost to the library. With increased demand, those costs can add up quickly. This adjustment helps us continue providing access while staying within our available funding.

Due to high demand, there may also be times when Hoopla is temporarily unavailable for checkouts later in the day. Access resets daily, so we encourage you to check back the next day if that happens.

đź’› Love Hoopla and want to help keep it going?
If you enjoy using Hoopla, you’ll soon have the option to support this service through a dedicated donation link. Contributions will go directly toward providing digital materials for our community and help ensure continued access for everyone.

Stay tuned for more details!

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting your library!
