The Liberty High School Track and Field team just gave the state of Virginia a masterclass in speed and strength. The Minutemen absolutely dominated the postseason, tearing up the regional stage before taking over the state podium!

"Undefeated" is a good look for the Cavalier community. Both the Jefferson Forest High School boys and girls soccer teams finished their regular seasons without a single loss, capturing the Seminole District Championships in dominant fashion.

The Seminole district also took notice of the incredible leadership and talent driving these programs, handing out some individual honors:

For the Girls Team:
Gabby Maggee: Seminole District Player of the Year
Sam Arrendondo: Seminole District Goalie of the Year
Coach Matt Newton: Seminole District Co-Coach of the Year

Talk about making great strides. Staunton River High School’s Joshua Jackson is officially the Region 3D Triple Jump Champion.

Joshua carried that momentum all the way to the VHSL Class 3 State Championship, where he delivered an outstanding performance against the top athletes in Virginia. He earned the title of state runner-up in both the triple jump and the long jump.

Chris Kolb’s” Noises Off Promo” earned Best Commercial in the State!
Cody Beck’s “Welcome to Merica” captured the State Audience Choice Award in Animation and also placed 2nd in the state in the Animation category. Cody proudly accepted his award after walking in from UVA Hospital—an inspiring moment for all in attendance!
Elias Brown’s “Inaperçue” placed 3rd in the state in Animation.
Julie Gibbs’ “Look Up” earned 5th Place in the PSA category.

Bedford County Public Schools proudly honors the heroes of D-Day and remembers the sacrifice of the Bedford Boys, whose courage changed the course of history.

With Bedford County being home to the National D-Day Memorial, our students have the unique opportunity to connect with this legacy through field trips and educational experiences that bring history to life. By learning the stories of those who served, we help ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

The Bedford County School Board will conduct its regular monthly meeting, as well as a work session, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in the School Administration Office Conference Room at 311 South Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523.

The work session will be held from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. The regularly scheduled board meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. The agenda for the meeting includes staff reports and Informational items. At 6:00 p.m. the Board will pause for public comment. When those items are complete, the Board will continue with Information, Action, and Consent items, as well as a closed session to discuss personnel and legal matters.

Montvale Elementary School was honored once again to host the Run for the Wall riders as more than 100 bikers made their annual stop in our community.

Our students helped make the day special by decorating the school, serving lunch, and putting on a wonderful performance to welcome and thank these veterans and supporters for their service and sacrifice.

A heartfelt thank you to the students, staff, families, sponsors, volunteers, and community members who came together to make this event possible. Your generosity and support continue to make this meaningful tradition a success year after year.

Thank you to the Run for the Wall riders for allowing us to be a part of your journey. We are grateful for another memorable and inspiring year!
