We ask that you please pray for the Miller family in reference to the passing of Pastor John. Pastor John was a strong encourager of our team from the very beginning of our founding during “The Miss Danielle Era” up through the present. Not only did he schedule our team to conduct Bible school programs and missions presentations, but he also scheduled Mr. Nate as a revival speaker at his various churches. Pastor John was also a faithful prayer warrior who lifted us and many others up before the Lord daily. We are grateful for his investment in our lives and the lives of others. (In your prayers please also pray for the congregation of Prosperity Christian Church.)

You could kindly pray for the Monmouth Community Christian Church retreat taking place at HCBC this weekend. Mr. Nate had the delight of meeting Elder Ron (shown in the third picture) and Pastor David from MCCC during some rearranging for their weekend event. As an additional blessing, he got to interact with their retreat speaker, Pastor Yeoh-Cherng Bor. Pastor Bor is the president for the ministry Ambassadors for Christ. (Miss April and Mr. Nate had the honor of ministering at the AFC facility in Lancaster County last September.)

For those of you who know of our team through Harvey Cedars Bible Conference, please understand that these connections with you which we cherish were only possible because of the work of Dr. Jim DeVries. “Several seasons” ago, Dr. DeVries (who was the science professor at Lancaster Bible College) was asked by Mr. Al Oldham if he would be willing to run a marine biology lab for the new HCBC homeschool week program. Dr. DeVries asked Al, “Well, could I bring my lab assistant and his wife with me? Oh, and by the way, they do children’s ministry too.” The rest, as they say is history. 21 years later, that lab assistant (a.k.a. Mr. Nate) still has the honor of partnering with Harvey Cedars to this day. One of the blessings of this week’s family week program was seeing Dr. DeVries’ grandson, Nathaniel, follow in his grandfather’s footsteps by conducting a marine biology elective for the families. We are quite grateful for Dr. DeVries’ investment in our lives!

Aunt and niece took a little time to do one of their favorite pastimes in between services recently…reading. (We will throw in a couple of silly pictures to round out this post.)

On the eve of the first day of school for Conemaugh Township, we take time to honor Miss April and Mr. Nate’s oldest niece, Aaliyah Rae, as she gets ready to begin her senior year of high school. Aaliyah, we love you, and are proud of you (in a non-sinful way, of course) for how you unashamedly have been emphasizing the role of the Lord in your life as you head into this important season of your academic career. We pray that you will be a steady light and savory salt in your school and wherever else the Lord takes you throughout this year. (The first picture shows how Aaliyah decorated her senior year parking spot at her school.)

You never know who might show up at a KnightLights program…especially at Harvey Cedars near the bay, inlet, and ocean! We appreciate your prayers as the next set of families make their journey to the conference center today and their services begin tonight. [Editor’s comment: no crustaceans were harmed in the taking of these photos.]

Our team was blessed with some creative artwork this week. One young man drew Red’s cousin—Blue. Two cousins drew pictures of Red, Pentagon, and Gregorio. The best part of the week, however, took place beside some artwork of a different nature. The chapel hallway near the stained glass window on the door of the Bert Room became our counseling location on Thursday night when one young man prayed to accept the Lord as his Savior! (Please pray for ongoing spiritual fruit from this decision as well as for a safe return home for this year’s group of Family Week #3 families.)

This stretch of family weeks at Harvey Cedars has produced some interesting birthday celebration requests. (This has happened all three weeks so far!) Today we had a younger brother invite his older twin siblings to join us in our class so that Gregorio could sing his “non-traditional birthday song” to them. We are trusting that rather than being traumatized by the experience that they felt loved by their little brother via this unique acknowledgment. (We appreciate your prayers for our remaining two services with this week’s group.)

Sometimes our students show up to class with some very interesting “gifts.” We appreciate your prayers for us as we share with them the message of the greatest “Gift” ever offered to this world. (In tonight’s session we will have another important Gospel emphasis response lesson.)

We have some birthday acknowledgements for this week. Last week we celebrated Leonard’s birthday…but this week it is his dear bride Shirley’s birthday as well. Today is also Daniel Kletzing’s birthday…and a significant one at that…as he is getting ready for a big life change. We are grateful for all of the special people that God has allowed us to meet through The KnightLights ministry! (Leonard and Shirley are famous for their matching outfits. This collection of photos features our nightly shots with them last week, as well as two throwback pictures with Daniel.)
