🚒 Getting Engine 11 Ready for Service!

We are weeks away from putting our new Engine 11 into active service!

This week, members of the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department and Lawrence County Fire Territory have been hitting the training hard to master the new setup. This rig is a powerhouse, featuring a 1500 GPM Hale Pump paired with a Trident Air Primer—equipment designed to give us maximum reliability and water flow when every second counts.

Cross-training between our units is vital. It ensures that no matter who is on the scene, we operate as one seamless team to protect our community.

Stay tuned—Engine 11 will be hitting the streets soon!

New Rig Alert: Shawswick VFD Heading Home!

We are thrilled to announce that the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department is bringing a brand-new engine back to the township!

Our team traveled down to US Fire Apparatus in Louisiana to officially take delivery of the new truck. While there, members spent time training on the new systems to ensure we are ready to put this apparatus into service.

This investment represents a major step forward in our ability to protect and serve our neighbors. A massive thank you goes out to the Shawswick Township Trustee and the Board Members for their unwavering support and for making this new engine a reality.

EMR class starting January 12th at Shawswick station 11 ( 1327 Sunny Acres Dr. Bedford, IN. 47421). Classes will be Monday, Wednesday and some Saturdays. Fee is $325, due on first day of class. Sign up on Acadis Portal.

Members of SFVD and LCFT gathered for our annual Christmas dinner and election meeting. It was a wonderful day of fellowship as we reflected on a year of hard work and dedication to our community.

🎃🚒 Get Ready for a Spooktacular Halloween! 👻🍬

Training for the Triple Lay

Our crew at Shawswick VFD recently completed a training session focused on mastering the triple lay fire hose stack. This technique is a game-changer for getting a reliable water source to the fire line quickly and efficiently. We practiced stacking, deploying, and connecting different lengths of fire hose, making sure every move was precise.
This training sharpens our skills and enhances our ability to work as a cohesive unit under pressure. It's just one of the many ways we're committed to staying prepared and keeping our community safe.

What a fantastic day at the Bedford Indiana Limestone Heritage Parade! We were proud to have two of our units, EMS 12 and Rescue 11, join in the festivities. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces along the parade route!
