🌩️ SEVERE STORM UPDATE — 8:38 PM 🌩️

Mother Nature has apparently chosen violence tonight. 😂

A nasty, rowdy line of storms is plowing ESE, with severe thunderstorm warnings lighting up the map. We’re talking 40–60 mph winds and hail up to quarter size — because apparently regular rain wasn’t dramatic enough. 🧊💨

Basically, Mother Nature is driving around throwing ice cubes at us and yelling, “DUCK!” 😂

Stay alert, stay weather-aware, and maybe bring the patio furniture inside before it decides to relocate itself to your neighbor’s yard.

THE TORNADO WARNING FOR SOUTHWESTERN CUYAHOGA COUNTY HAS EXPIRED...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for northeastern Ohio.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for Cuyahoga County.

URGENT: TORNADO WARNING ISSUED

Tornado Warning is in effect for Lorain and Cuyahoga counties until 5:30pm. Areas within the red shaded polygon area need to take shelter immediately! This inclused Avon Lake, North Olmsted, Elyria. This is a dangerous storm also capable of producing destructive winds up to 75 mph! Other areas are under a Thunderstorm Warning.

In the early hours of Thursday August 13, 2026 a call came into the Chagrin Valley Dispatch - Brecksville facility for a 36 year old female who was in active labor with her third child. 👶🏻

Dispatcher Dave recognized the severity of the situation and immediately began providing emergency medical dispatching (EMD) instructions to help this family bring their new bundle of joy into the world. 🩺

Within 4 minutes of answering the call, it was reported that the "baby was out!". Dispatcher Dave remained on the phone with the caller continuously checking on the status of both Mom & baby until paramedics arrived to take over patient care! 💖

Dispatcher Dave has been awarded the Chagrin Valley Dispatch Stork Pin, this pin is specifically reserved for those dispatchers who successfully aid in the delivery of a baby prior to responders arrival on scene. Congratulations Dave on a job well one!

🎉Attention Attention 🎉

We’re excited to share that Dispatcher Takacs from our Cleveland Heights facility has been named the 2025 Dispatcher of the Year by the Ohio chapters of APCO and NENA, along with the Ohio Gold Star Committee!

This award recognizes Dispatcher Takacs' steady composure and professionalism during a critical incident on March 4th in Richmond Heights. Under incredible pressure during a high-stress homicide call, she showed the exact skill, resourcefulness, and calm that define the best in our field.

CVD submitted 10 total nominations across all of our facilities this year, showing just how strong our team is.

Congratulations, Sarah, on a well-deserved recognition!
