Since July of 1988, the JEMSTAR program has provided rapid transport of the critically ill and injured patient to trauma centers throughout New Jersey within the “golden hour”. The JEMSTAR program is supported through grant funding from a $3 surcharge on motor-vehicle registrations. That funding subsidizes the operation of NorthSTAR and SouthSTAR, in conjunction with the NJ State Police, allowing
us to transport patients for free. Along with being able to provide care to our patients at no cost, the JEMSTAR program is the only medevac system in NJ that operates state of the art aircraft with two pilots, and the capability of transporting two patients. While our primary mission is medevac operations, we also assist with Homeland Security, aviation law enforcement, and aerial hoist operations, along with search and rescue missions. NorthSTAR & SouthSTAR have successfully transported over 14,000 patients to trauma centers and other specialty care centers throughout the greater New Jersey area.
