BUILDING STRONG® The lake is nestled in the rolling hills of south central Kentucky in Edmonson, Grayson, and Hart counties. The dam is located on the Nolin River near the community of Bee Spring, about 20 miles from Leitchfield and 95 miles southwest of Louisville. The 5,795 acre Nolin River Lak

e provides recreational opportunities to over 2 million visitors per year. These visitors come to Nolin for camping, boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking, hunting, and relaxing. With miles of scenic shoreline and cool, clear water, Nolin is the perfect summer getaway. The Corps, in cooperation with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, manages Nolin River Lake’s land and water for wildlife, fisheries, and recreation. Army Corps of Engineers is committed to providing universal access so that the lake facilities and programs will be available to the widest possible range of visitors, including people with disabilities. Nolin Lake has the following accessible facilities:

When paddling on rivers, steer clear of commercial vessels. 🚢 They have the right of way in a navigation channel.

Human-powered vessels should avoid commercial traffic. Boats don’t have brakes, and it takes an average of ¾ to 1½ miles for a towboat pushing barges to stop. ⚠️

Give commercial vessels plenty of room and stay safe on the water! 🌊

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District is transitioning management of Moutardier Recreation Area at Nolin River Lake.

➡️Effective Sept. 1, 2026, Moutardier Day Use Area will be managed under a lease agreement with Moutardier, LLC.

➡️Effective Nov. 1, 2026, Moutardier Campground and associated campground facilities, including the fishing pier, parking lot and boat ramp, will also be managed by Moutardier, LLC, who will oversee day-to-day operations and reservation services.

USACE remains committed to providing a high-quality recreation experience and maintaining a sustainable recreation program. As part of this effort, the Louisville District is partnering with this local business to manage Moutardier Recreation Area.

Any existing reservations at the day-use area will be honored by the new lessee. Questions regarding fees, pass eligibility, or reservation procedures should be directed to Moutardier, LLC, at 270-971-2108 or [email protected].

FACILITY UPDATE:

The Nolin River Lake Tailwater Recreation Area boat ramp and adjacent parking lot will be temporarily closed to the public starting the morning of Monday, August 24th for improvements. This closure will temporarily block access to the boat ramp and adjacent parking lot. We will reopen the facility before Labor Day weekend and post an update once the work is complete. We apologize for the inconvenience but appreciate your patience and understanding.
