To quote the great philosopher Ferris Bueller "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
But what BPD doesn't want to miss is making sure your pets are taken care of, if you're involved in a medical emergency or traffic crash requiring hospitalization. With that consideration in mind we decided to do something for man and woman's best friend, our pets.
Chief Galvin is pleased to share with the community a Pet Home Alone notification program.
The program is designed to ensure first responders, friends, or Good Samaritans know you have pets that are unattended if you suffer a medical emergency outside your home, or are involved in a traffic crash that requires transport to a hospital.
We are pleased to provide complimentary key chains and wallet cards to any member of the community who would like them.
The bright red house shaped keychain is imprinted with "Pet Home Alone Check Wallet Card for Contact #" and can be attached to your purse, vehicle keys or any other location where it might be noticed.
The two sided wallet card can be filled out with the name and contact number of two emergency contacts that you would like our dispatch center to call if your pet needs to be taken care of (life hack - please let the person(s) you list know they are the emergency contact for your pet).
You can stop at the following locations to pick-up your wallet card and key chain:
Beecher Police Department 250 W Church Road
Beecher Village Hall 625 Dixie Hwy
Beecher Veterinary Clinic 700 Dixie Hwy
Honeylane Pet Grooming 646 Dixie Hwy
**Please limit your contacts for real pets only, you know your dogs, cats, miniature goats/pigs/horses, etc, not your GigaPets, Beep Boop, Pet Rocks and FarmVille 2 and FarmVille 3 animals.
