We are reminding local businesses and residents to remain vigilant following the recent robberies and burglaries involving gaming machines in the surrounding towns.

Businesses and residents are encouraged to:
• Be alert for suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity around businesses, particularly during overnight and early morning hours.
• Report suspicious activity to police as soon as possible.
• Do not confront or pursue suspects. Your safety is our top priority.
• If a crime is in progress or someone is in immediate danger, call 911.

We ask our business community and residents to remain aware, use good judgment, and look out for one another.

If you see something suspicious, say something.

Please be advised that if any residents are experiencing power outages, the community room at the police department, 250 W. Church Road, can be used to charge small, personal devices now until 5:00pm. Stay safe!

Please be advised that the Beecher’s Night Out Event scheduled at Firemen’s Park for this evening has been cancelled. The severe weather that we are experiencing has caused widespread damage and power outages throughout the community.

The safety of our residents, vendors, and volunteers is our top priority.

We will be planning a Fall Fest so keep an eye out for upcoming details! Stay safe!

Tomorrow is BEECHER’s NIGHT OUT!

Please join us at Firemen’s Park for our best one yet! We’ll have a ton of fun things to do like:

- “Touch-a-Truck”, including a SWAT Bearcat!

- Illinois State Police Rollover Simulator: This device simulates a rollover traffic accident, demonstrating the importance of wearing your seatbelt

- Illinois National Guard Obstacle Course: Test your abilities in the blow up obstacle course!

- Child Emergency ID kits provided by Will County Sheriff’s Office

- Dunk Tank: Are you skilled enough to “dunk” your favorite officer (or Village official)?

- Bounce House

- Free hot dogs and refreshments! (Provided in part by Nick Oosting Realty)

- Free ice cream (provided by the Beecher Lions Club)

- Face Painting!

ARREST WARRANT SCAM

We have received reports of an elaborate scam occurring in the Village of Beecher. Residents report receiving phone calls from the Beecher Police Department from phone number (708) 946-2341. The caller identifies themself as Chief Galvin and proceeds to notify the resident they have an arrest warrant before demanding money.

Please be advised, (708) 946-2341 is our actual police non-emergency phone number. This is a common practice where scammers are able to mask their phone number, using familiar local phone numbers, pretending to represent law enforcement. If you receive any phone call similar to this, please hang up and call the Beecher Police Department to speak with an officer. You CAN still call our non-emergency line at (708) 946-2341. It will ONLY ring to our dispatch center. But if you are uncomfortable with this, you can always call our general office line at (708) 946-6388.

BEECHER’S NATIONAL NIGHT OUT returns on August 11th at Firemen’s Park! We have lots of fun and new activities planned for all and we can’t wait to share them with you. Check back for updates and more information in the coming days!

Why arn’t we sharing this event on the same day as other police departments? Well, every year we found it increasingly harder to schedule special additions to our NNO because other municipalities are also trying to schedule the same for their events. By moving our NNO event back a week, we’re able to provide a bigger event AND celebrate the beginning of the new school year.
