On 5/31/26 at approximately 10:23 am, Beecher Police were called to 264 Woodward St. for a report of a suspicious vehicle, a blue Jaguar SUV. Upon arrival, officers made contact with driver, Floyd R. Thomas. After a brief conversation, Thomas attempted to flee, accelerating in reverse, toward one of the officers on scene. Thomas then fled the area. Officers attempted to locate Thomas and were able to utilize FLOCK license plate reader camers to determine he was traveling northbound on IL Rt 1 at Eagle Lake Rd. Thomas’ vehicle and description were broadcast for surrounding agencies and Crete Police began to purse Thomas a short time later. Thomas crashed into a utility pole in the area of Klemme Rd and Old Post Rd. In Crete Township. After a brief foot pursuit, he was taken into custody. Thomas was subsequently transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility with request for detainment. Thomas was charged with crimes occuring in their jurisdiction. Additional charges are pending for crimes occurring within the Village of Beecher.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
