Thank you to all the kids that participated in our 2026 Summer Reading Program, Unearth a Story. We wrapped up our summer reading program on June 24 with a celebration for the summer reading participants. The kids enjoyed the Raptor Show by the Fontenelle Forest and learned about the different types of raptors. They also got to see Taiga a Merlin Falcon, Barron a Barn Owl, and George a Eastern Screech Owl. Afterwards the kids colored a dinosaur poster while prizes were handed out.

Everyone that participated received a goodie bag along with a coupon from the West Point Pizza Ranch. Top ticket holders for the reading program were Lexi Payton (29), Zach Payton (29), Dottie Brodd (25), Zoe Brodd (25), and Alivia Schroetlin (25). Coloring Contest winners were Kesley Fehrer, Alivia Schroetlin, and Paisley Stanley. Top prizes for the reading program were Dino Skeleton (119 tickets), Squishmallow (105 tickets), Prehistoric Putt (73 tickets), West Point Theater (66 tickets), and Backpack with school supplies (40 tickets).

Overall the library had an awesome turn out this year for the program with 49 kids. The library collected 590 tickets from those that participated in the program. Ticket winners for the prize drawings were Brecken Conner, Rhett Lierman, Lexi Payton, Eason Lierman, Dottie Brodd, Max Guenther, Anabelle Freese, Judy Guenther, Cash Stanley, Nora Freese, Lane Holtz, Zach Payton, Freddy Fullner, Zoe Brodd, and Joanna Mohr.

A huge 'Thank You' to everyone that helped out with the program this summer... Lana Wolf, Michaela Gorenflo, Jackie Delmont, and Sue Martin.

The Karlen Memorial Library is starting the process of its accreditation. As part of our strategic planning the library would like to know if our current services are meeting the needs of our community and how best the library can serve its community in the near future. We have surveys available at the post office and the library if you could please pick one up to fill out. Thank you so much!
