The Karlen Memorial Library is a member of the Three Rivers Library System in Nebraska. The Library serves the Village of Beemer, Beemer Township and the surrounding area with over 8,000 books, magazines, videotapes, DVDs, and audio books. The Library also provides access to e-books through Nebraska Overdrive. Just some of the services that we provide are Interlibrary Loan, Homebound Delivery, Com

puters and Laptops for public use, Free Wi-fi, Scanner, Color Copy Machine, Fax Machine, Color Printer, Laminator, CD/DVD Scratch Repair - Cleaner, Accu-Cut Machine and Die Cutouts, and a Cricut Machine and Cartridges.

Last week was our second day of the summer reading program, Unearth a Story.

Week 2 Theme: Digging up Dinosaurs

Stories - 'Sinclair, The Velociraptor Who Thought He Was a Chicken' by Douglas Rees, 'How Dinosaurs Went Extinct' by Ame Dyckman, and 'Have You Seen My Invisible Dinosaur?' by Helen Yoon. The kids had fun excavating chocolate chips from cookies and making dinosaur skeletons out of pasta with Kelly Schole, Assistant Extension Educator with Nebraska Extension in Dodge and Cuming County. Snacks for the day were Dinosaur Cookies.

If you signed up for the program, but were unable to attend last week's event, stop by and pick up your next packet. All Reading Logs and Packets need to be turned in by June 23 to enter tickets for prizes. The coloring contest sheets need to be turned in by June 22 in order to be judged on time.

‼️Important Library Information‼️

On Wednesday, June 17 for the summer reading program we will be filling a time capsule to store away for 15 years. I am asking summer reading participants to bring in a school photo or family photo to put in the box along with the form they will be filling in that day. If there are any businesses or community members that would like to contribute something to the box please drop off at the library before Wednesday.

Last week was our first day of the summer reading program, Unearth a Story.
Week 1 Theme: Digging in Dirt

Stories - 'All the Rocks We Love' by Lisa Varchol Perron & Taylor Perron, 'Worms are Our Friends' by Toni D'Alia, and 'One Hundred Bones' by Yuval Zommer. The kids had fun learning about soil and the different layers with Kelly Schole, Assistant Extension Educator with Nebraska Extension in Dodge and Cuming County. Afterwards they made their own soil with cereal, granola, and sugar. Snacks for the day were Scooby-Doo Graham Crackers.
