I do congratulate Randy on his election and wish him the very best in service to our county. I will support his administration and work for a seamless transition.

This Memorial Day Weekend, please take a moment to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation so we could live under freedom's blessing.

Whether in war or peace, the debt they paid is final. Our memory of them should be forever.

Some soldiers will never lace their boots again. Sailors, like those with whom I served who died when their liberty boat collided with another ship, will never walk our nation's shores again. Or LCDR Nathan Brown Chase, for whom the former airfield here in Beeville was named. He died in 1925 while helping test new techniques for aircraft carrier landings. His are now wings of angels.

It is our duty to honor them by never forgetting that freedom is not free. There is a price to pay, and these men and women so willingly paid it, bearing that cross with honor.

Today's the beginning of our Bee County Run-off Elections. For the next five days, you can only vote at the Elections Administration Office on St. Mary's.

Please get out and vote, and I hope you'll join Governor Abbott, Governor Perry, and statewide law enforcement including former Texas Rangers in supporting my re-election as your sheriff.
