He has been married to his wife Pat for 31 years. He is the proud father of two sons, Philip and Andy and the grandfather of five. Carlos graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1976. He went on to I.T.E.S.M. (Monterry Tech) Mexico on a football scholarship. He holds an Associates Degree from Bee County College. Sheriff Carrizales holds a Masters Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education and is a Certified TCLEOSE Instructor. Carlos has twenty-two years of service with the Beeville Police Department. He has held numerous positions in the department such as a Reserve Officer, a Patrol Officer, a Patrol Sergeant, a Detective, a Detective Sergeant, a Patrol Lieutenant, and a Detective Lieutenant. This valuable experience on the street in Patrol, as well as a Detective, and as the Supervisor over both Patrol and Detectives, provided him with knowledge and expertise to begin the next phase of his career. In 2004 Carlos Carrizales Jr. ran and was elected the Sheriff of Bee County. In 2008, the community overwhelmingly showed their faith in his abilities and re-elected him to his second term. Now, in 2012, Sheriff Carrizales seeks his third term and asks for your vote and continued support. During his first eight years as your Sheriff, he has implemented many improvements within the Sheriff's Office such as 24 hour patrol; established an Explorer Post for teens interested in law enforcement; Computerized Live Scan Fingerprint System; Submitted a proposal for a 60 bed jail expansion; initiated a SWAT Team and a Warrants Unit; upgraded the K9 Program; Upgraded the Criminal Investigations Division as well as a Narcotics Unit; implemented Education and Community Programs; the Courtesy Card Program; intensified patrol targeting high crime areas of Bee County; Medical Staff for the jail; the Amber Alert for Region 5; procured over $500,000.00 since 2005 through the Border Star Operations; secured over a half of a million dollars in seized monies from criminal interdiction as well as over one million dollars in total grant funding. Sheriff Carrizales has managed a 2.5 million dollar budget for the Sheriff's Office and Jail. His efficient management of the jail and Sheriff's Office has generated over 7 million dollars of revenue that has been turned over to the County General Fund. Along with that 7 million dollars that filled the county coffers, Sheriff Carrizales has provided 28 vehicles for his deputies to utilize from seizures and funds generated from seizures which resulted in no cost to the taxpayer. Sheriff Carrizales is a member of the Sheriff's Association of Texas, Founding Board Member and Vice-President of the South Texas Coastal Sheriff's Alliance; a Board Member of the Coastal Bend Peace Officers Association; President of the Coastal Bend College Law Enforcement Advisory Board; Del Mar College Law Enforcement Advisory Board Member; BISD Learning Environmental Strategic Planning Committee; Advisory Board Member for the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities; and a proud supporter of the Boys and Girls Club. Carlos' 30 years of law enforcement experience, 8 years of which is as your Sheriff, along with his common sense approach and belief that all people should be treated fairly, has shown he is the best candidate for the office.
