Each year, tens of thousands of individuals serve with AmeriCorps programs to make change in our communities. For this #AmeriFriday, we asked our current members why they would recommend serving with Habitat AmeriCorps.

What is Habitat AmeriCorps? It's part of the growing national service movement. In partnership with Habitat organizations throughout the U.S., the program places AmeriCorps members to serve in the field and in the office to build and repair homes, expand housing services and engage the community. A service term with Habitat provides hands-on nonprofit experience that allows members to learn and develop lifelong skills and confidence. Our AmeriCorps members serve a critical role in helping Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better future for themselves and their families.

Here’s a 10-second interview relaying one of the more shocking stories we’ve encountered in our Repair Program. (Fundraising link dropped in Comments section 👇)
Many low-income homeowners, possibly people right in your own neighborhood, would love to live in a warm, safe and stable home but they can’t afford the money for critical home repairs or weatherization needs. That’s where our Repair Program comes in. We're holding a fundraiser from March 2 - April 16 so that your donations can help offset the costs of, for instance, a new roof, an accessibility ramp, grab bars, or to address plumbing or electrical issues (and so much more)! Whether you have $5, $50, or $500 to donate, any contributions would be welcome! Link to our web page provided in Comments section below 👇
We're just days away from starting our Lent Build fundraiser for the Repair Program! From March 2 - April 16, we're asking for the public's help! If you would like to donate to our program to help offset the costs of helping your low-income neighbors with roofs; ramps; flooring, electrical and plumbing issues; accessibility needs/mods, etc., please visit our website: http://ow.ly/Pf7050I4fpg
Our Worksite Wednesday announces some amazing news! We held a panel build with staff from Amazon.com (Sparrows Point) to build the walls of 511 S Stokes Street, Havre de Grace (the first floor of the two-story duplex). We ALSO received a check from Amazon for $54K to be its house sponsor! AND, the employees will be volunteering at that build site on a weekly basis! Thank you, Amazon, for partnering with us to support affordable housing opportunities in our local community! (Keep an eye out for our photo album to be posted later today.)
Here's our final Worksite Wednesday video for the year! It has: All I want for Christmas is.... (hint: something we really, really need for our build sites); plus progress updates on our Rising Sun, Havre de Grace and Aberdeen homes!
Thank you to all the volunteers, donors, sponsors, supporters, Board members and Habitat Susquehanna staff for making this year so special for a lot of Homeownership and Repair program families! Your efforts have helped many of them to live in warm, safe, decent and affordable homes this year (and every year). Our next update videos will be in 2022 so keep an eye out for them! 💪⚒🏡❤
It's Worksite Wednesday and we're so excited to be just days away from volunteering for Cecil Cares Day, October 2nd! Other nonprofits are also looking for assistance on this countywide day of service, so visit Volunteer Cecil to learn more! Interested in volunteering with Habitat Susquehanna in the future? Habitat doesn't "give away" homes. Habitat’s homebuyers invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners, in addition to paying an affordable mortgage and receiving financial education.
