Bear Legacy - Adventure Trail

Bear Legacy - Adventure Trail We’re all about hiking, and family adventures, explore three colorful looping trails at Bear Legacy Trails! 2503 S.Tollgate Rd. Abingdon MD. Daylight use only.

Hiking at your own risk. No trash, no bathrooms. Leave no Trace. I always tried to teach Bear to share and love your friends and family! Nothing takes too much time and nothing is too much trouble! It's not what you take with you, it's what you leave behind… and he did just that!!! He left all of us with some of the best friends we could ask for, and I thank everyone for sharing his life with us!

I am a sad, but a better person knowing this little boy is mine. I see many of my friends and know he had such a big part in making these friendships. He would wake up every morning and run in my room and say "Mommy what are we doing today", and now my today is missing something. It's missing everything... but I see all of you, and I realize this is what he left behind for me. In 2013, at the young age of 4 Bear suddenly got a virus which caused encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). The damage to Bear's brain was too severe to survive. Now Bear's family and friends strive to give back to the local community and promote outdoor activities in his honor. Bear Legacy Mission Statement

Bear Legacy conducts activities to give back to the local community and our efforts are focused on encouraging families to get outside. We hold annual hikes, operate geocaches, as well as build and maintain kid-friendly walking trials to increase outdoor activities in the community. In honor of Bear Brzozowski, we also help local families with a sick child by providing compassionate support such as a teddy bear for the child, a check to pay an outstanding bill and encouragement to find peace in nature.

🌿 A huge THANK YOU to Michele, and her amazing volunteer crew! 🌿

After the recent storms, Michele gathered a small but mighty team and headed out to Bear Legacy Adventure Trail to help get everything back into shape.

With just 3 adults and 2 kids, they accomplished so much:
🌳 Cleared approximately 4 downed trees from the Orange and Blue Trails.
🧹 Weed-whacked and cleaned up the trails and around the bench.
🎋 Got the Bamboo House ready for fresh bamboo.
⚖️ Checked the trail equipment and noted that one of the balance beams will need to be replaced.

Michele shared, “We got so much done today!” And from everything they accomplished, I’d definitely agree!

It takes an incredible community to keep our 40-acre trail safe, beautiful, and ready for families to enjoy. We truly couldn’t do this without volunteers who are willing to donate their time and hard work.

Thank you, Michele, and your entire crew, for taking such great care of Bear Legacy Adventure Trail. Your kindness and dedication mean more than you know. ❤️🐻

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, we’d love to have you join us. Many hands make light work, and every hour donated helps keep the trail open and beautiful for everyone!
