Hiking at your own risk. No trash, no bathrooms. Leave no Trace. I always tried to teach Bear to share and love your friends and family! Nothing takes too much time and nothing is too much trouble! It's not what you take with you, it's what you leave behind… and he did just that!!! He left all of us with some of the best friends we could ask for, and I thank everyone for sharing his life with us!
I am a sad, but a better person knowing this little boy is mine. I see many of my friends and know he had such a big part in making these friendships. He would wake up every morning and run in my room and say "Mommy what are we doing today", and now my today is missing something. It's missing everything... but I see all of you, and I realize this is what he left behind for me. In 2013, at the young age of 4 Bear suddenly got a virus which caused encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). The damage to Bear's brain was too severe to survive. Now Bear's family and friends strive to give back to the local community and promote outdoor activities in his honor. Bear Legacy Mission Statement
Bear Legacy conducts activities to give back to the local community and our efforts are focused on encouraging families to get outside. We hold annual hikes, operate geocaches, as well as build and maintain kid-friendly walking trials to increase outdoor activities in the community. In honor of Bear Brzozowski, we also help local families with a sick child by providing compassionate support such as a teddy bear for the child, a check to pay an outstanding bill and encouragement to find peace in nature.
