Harford County Commission for Women The Commission, composed of 15 members, appointed by the County Executive, shall be advisory to the County Executive, the Department of Community Services and the Coordinator of the Office.

Harford County Commission for Women was established in 1977 to promote the economic, social, and political equality of women.

Harford County's Future is looking brighter due to the accomplishments of eleven young women nominated for the 2019 Women of Tomorrow Awards. The Commission for Women held the awards ceremony on March 20, 2019 at the Richlin Catering and Event Center when we recognized their accomplishments academic achevements and volunteerism.

The winners were for 7th and 8th grades, Grace Callwood.
9th and 10th grades, Shadiamnd Kell and for 11th and 12th grades, Claudia Bruce.

Also recognized were our guest speaker, Brittany Trocher as our Woman of the Present and Veronica "Roni" Chenowith as our Woman of the Past.

We sadly said farewell to three of our commissioners whose terms have expired. Thank you Jayne Klein, Rose Satz and Jill Charleton for all of your hard work and contributions to this commission and the women of Harford County.

We currently have four openings for commissioners. Join us for our September 24, 2018 meeting to learn more about our mission.

It's not to late to nominate an exceptional young woman in Grades 7-12!

The Harford County Commission for Women is seeking nominations for outstanding young women for its 2018 Women of Tomorrow Awards. Schools, organizations and individuals are encouraged to nominate a deserving young woman who has made a difference in her school and / or community; a young woman who positively impacts the lives of others.

Nominees will be separated into three different grade groups, 7-8; 9-10; and 11-12. The first place winner in each grade will receive a $250 cash prize.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSIONS IS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2017

July 11, 2017 The Maryland Commission for Women Listening Tour made a stop at the Abingdon Library where women were invited to speak about the challenges that face women and what could make their lives better. The top five concerns discussed will be combined with the same information gathered from other counties and the overall top five issues will be presented to the Governor and the General Assembly. This will allow for the voices of Maryland women to be heard to encourage changes to make the lives of Maryland women better as a result.

The Women of Tomorrow Award provides a forum for honoring young women in grades 7-12, who, through their efforts and academic achievement, have made significant and lasting contributions to their communities and Harford County. Thirty young women were nominated. The winner for the 7-8 grades was Anastasia Andrews and for the 11-12 grades was Amanda Dorsey. No nominees were received for grades 9-10. Also honored were Virginia Dresher as the Woman of the Past and Carolyn W. Evans, Esq. as the Woman of the Present. Carolyn served as the keynote speaker for the event.,
