Cooling Stations Available in Belen Due to Extreme Heat

With temperatures expected to remain dangerously high, the following cooling stations are available to the public:

Belen Fire Department
121 S. 5th Street, Belen, NM
Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Belen Recreation Center
305 Eagle Lane, Belen, NM
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these facilities to stay cool and hydrated during periods of extreme heat. Please check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may not have access to adequate cooling.

Heat Safety Tips
💧Drink plenty of water.
☀️Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
🚗Never leave children or pets in vehicles.
👚Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
💨Seek air-conditioned spaces if you begin feeling overheated.

For emergencies, call 911.

🍂 Fall Clean-Up is back!
Drop off eligible household waste Mon–Fri, Nov 13–21, 2025, from 12–4 PM at 925 N. Main St.

🛻 We’ll have two 30-yard dumpsters on site with scheduled swaps—six total for the event.
⚠️ First-come, first-served: if they fill before the next exchange, they’ll be unavailable until the swap.

🚫 Not accepted: oil, tires, chemicals, construction debris, refrigerators.
