Cooling Stations Available in Belen Due to Extreme Heat

With temperatures expected to remain dangerously high, the following cooling stations are available to the public:

Belen Fire Department
121 S. 5th Street, Belen, NM
Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Belen Recreation Center
305 Eagle Lane, Belen, NM
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these facilities to stay cool and hydrated during periods of extreme heat. Please check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may not have access to adequate cooling.

Heat Safety Tips
💧Drink plenty of water.
☀️Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
🚗Never leave children or pets in vehicles.
👚Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
💨Seek air-conditioned spaces if you begin feeling overheated.

For emergencies, call 911.

Serenity is still missing. We do not suspect foul play at this time; however, that doesn't change our goal of locating her.

The Belen Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Serenity Martinez, age 16. Serenity was last seen on Friday, June 12th at approximately 4:30 PM at a residence on Delgado Ave in Belen.

Description:
• Height: 4'10"
• Weight: 108 lbs
• Last seen wearing: bell‑bottom jeans, a maroon sweater, and white Nike Air Force shoes.
