All City of Belen offices and buildings will be closed on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. Universal Waste Systems will also be closed on Monday. Trash pickup will be delayed by one day. Please have your cart to the curb by 7am the day AFTER your usual pickup day.

Registration is open for the Belen Community Center NFL Flag Football Fall League 2026! This league is for boys and girls ages 6–12!

• Practices begin the week of October 19th
• Games run November 7th–December 19th

• Early Registration: August 31st–October 3rd — $70
• Late Registration: October 4th–10th — $90

Parents, please create a CivicRec account first, then add your child or children under your account. Once your child is added, you will be able to register them for the league.

We invite our community to come together for our annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony as we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, recognize the courage of our first responders, and remember the countless acts of bravery and service that followed.

This year marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, and we invite residents to join us in reflection and remembrance.

Physical fitness testing will be held:

📅 Sunday, September 6, 2026
⏰ 8 a.m.
📍 Belen High School

Minimum standards to pass:

🏃 1.5-mile run: 15 minutes, 54 seconds
🏃 300-meter sprint: 71 seconds
💪 Sit-ups: 27 in one minute
💪 Push-ups: 15 in one minute

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and must apply online at www.belen-nm.gov before testing.

🚒 The Annual Valencia County Family Day - Special Olympics Fire Truck Pull is almost here!

Join us on September 19, 2026, 10am-4pm, for a full day of family fun supporting Special Olympics!

What started as a small event has grown to include:
🔥 Fire Truck Pull teams
🎯 A Kids Corner with games and activities
🛍️ Multiple vendors
🎉 And much more!

There are still several ways to get involved. Special Olympics sponsorships are still available, but the deadline is quickly approaching, with just over a week remaining. Registration is also still open for Fire Truck Pull teams and vendors.

Whether you sponsor, participate, volunteer, or simply bring the family out for the day, your support helps Special Olympics provide opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
