Earlier today during our Fill the Boot fundraiser, a men's ring was found.

If you believe it may be yours, please stop by the Belfast Fire & Rescue station and speak with an on-duty fire officer. Be prepared to describe the ring so we can ensure it is returned to its rightful owner.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported today’s Memorial Day parade in Searsmont and Belfast. Seeing our community come together to remember, reflect, and show support means so much.

From all of us at Belfast Fire & Rescue, thank you to our veterans, active service members, first responders, and the families who support them every day.

We hope everyone has a safe Memorial Day 🇺🇸

As EMS Week 2026 comes to a close, Belfast Fire & Rescue would like to recognize the dedication and commitment of the EMS professionals who serve our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

This year’s EMS Week theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” truly reflects the teamwork that exists throughout our region every single day. Belfast Fire & Rescue is proud to have 25 licensed EMS providers, along with several firefighters who assist by driving and supporting EMS operations, responding to nearly 2,600 calls for service each year.

In light of the recent tragic events surrounding the Robbins Lumber mill explosions in Searsmont, this week has served as a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and professionalism of emergency responders across our area. Incidents like these demonstrate how important teamwork and cooperation are between agencies during times of crisis.

We would also like to recognize and thank the many outstanding EMS providers, firefighters, dispatchers, nurses, physicians, law enforcement officers, Lifeflight crews, and mutual aid partners that we work alongside every day. The relationships and partnerships throughout Waldo County and beyond play a critical role in ensuring the best possible care for our communities.

To our members and all EMS professionals everywhere — thank you for your compassion, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to helping others.

Today at 10:49 am, Belfast Fire and Rescue was dispatched for a reported structure fire. The first arriving crew arrived on scene in 6 minutes to find heavy fire on the first and second floor. Mutual aid was immediately requested from Morrill Volunteer Fire Department, Waldo Volunteer Fire Department and Monroe Volunteer Fire Department. The homeowner and occupants of the residence were accounted for and safe. A transitional suppression attack was made knocking down enough fire from the exterior to allow crews to enter the building to finish suppression. The fire was under control within 30 minutes allowing for an extensive overhaul throughout. The building and all contents are a total loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The Red Cross was requested to provide assistance to the home owner.
Thank you to our Mutual Aid Partners, Morrill, Waldo and Monroe Fire Departments, Searsport Ambulance, Waldo County Regional Communications, Central Maine Power, Belfast Water District and Belfast Police Department.
