On Friday Aug 14th and Saturday Aug 15 volunteers from the Northern Cross Science Foundation will open the park's Observatory in the upper parking lot near Puckett's Pond. Their webpage says these events are from 8 to 11 pm this time. Besides having a chance to view the night sky through the large telescope in the Observatory, some of their members usually bring their own telescopes and set them up in the parking lot close to the Observatory and share their knowledge. Park admission is required. Please enter, park, and leave on the western end of the parking lot to avoid disrupting peoples' night vision.
