Memorial Day Weekend is meant for making memories, not tragedies.

The Belgrade Police Department and partnering agencies across the Gallatin Valley will be increasing patrols to keep impaired drivers off the road. Whether you’ve been drinking, using ma*****na, or anything else that affects your driving, don’t get behind the wheel.

Plan ahead. Stay safe. Get home alive.

Yes, Sergeant Jarrod Robinson does work for the Belgrade Police Department.

No, he is not calling random people saying he's from “the Sheriff’s Department” and demanding urgent callbacks.

Several citizens have reported receiving suspicious calls and voicemails from someone claiming to be “Sergeant Jarrod Robinson with the Sheriff’s Department.” Dispatch has also received multiple calls regarding the same scam attempt.

As a reminder:

➡️ Law enforcement agencies will not call demanding money or personal information.

➡️ Be cautious of urgent, threatening, or high-pressure phone calls.

➡️ If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact the agency directly using an official phone number.

Scammers are getting creative, but apparently not creative enough to fact-check where Sgt. Robinson actually works!

Thank you to the Bozeman Police Department for their collaboration on this investigation.

The incident referenced below in Belgrade was a reported robbery at approximately 3:08 a.m. at the Town Pump located at 206 W. Jefferson Ave. As noted in the post below, the suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

We appreciate the coordinated efforts of all our area law enforcement agencies throughout this investigation.

On May 12, 2026, at about 2:17 AM, a hotel near North 7th and Oak reported that a man with a knife robbed the hotel of cash, then fled the scene. At about 2:42 AM, a gas station near East Main and North Broadway also reported that a man with a knife robbed the station, then fled. The description of the man and details of each incident indicated the robberies were related. Fortunately, no one was injured during either robbery. Bozeman Police officers quickly arrived at both businesses and began investigating each incident. Detectives from the Bozeman Police Department Major Crimes Unit soon responded and took over both investigations.

Officers were advised a short time later that a very similar incident occurred in Belgrade shortly after the two Bozeman robberies.

Through the course of the investigation, a suspect was identified. The suspect is now in custody in another jurisdiction on separate charges. Detectives are actively working with the Belgrade Police Department on all three incidents.

There does not appear to be any further risk to the public.

Thank you to the Montana Department of Corrections Probation and Parole, the Montana State University Police Department, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, the Belgrade Police Department, and the Montana Highway Patrol for their assistance with this investigation.

Police Week is a time to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and to recognize the dedication of law enforcement officers who continue to serve and protect every day.

Please join us this week in remembering the fallen, supporting those who serve, and recognizing the important role law enforcement plays in our community.

What a heartwarming morning in Belgrade as our officers joined community partners to help carry the Flame of Hope through Gallatin County in support of Special Olympics Montana ❤️🔥

Special Olympics athlete Skylehr Stiles of Belgrade led the way on his bike alongside Officers Matt Jones and Chelsey Iglecias and firefighters from Central Valley Fire District during the Belgrade leg of the Montana Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

The highlight of the morning came as hundreds of students from Saddle Peak Elementary and Belgrade Middle School lined Jackrabbit Lane, cheering, waving, and filling the streets with encouragement as the runners and convoy passed by. You have to check out the full video here - it'll be the best couple minutes of your day.

After weaving through town, the group finished their leg in front of Big Red on Main Street before the Flame of Hope continued on to Bozeman and eventually to Billings for the lighting of the cauldron at the Special Olympics Montana State Summer Games next week.

A huge thank you to Central Valley Fire District, Bozeman Police Department and Gallatin Airport Authority Public Safety Department (Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport) for helping make this morning so special. Most of all, thank you to the students, staff, and community members whose cheers reminded us what the Torch Run is all about: inclusion, encouragement, and hope. 💙

We have been receiving reports of text messages claiming that recipients owe money for a citation, violation, or even a “toll.” These messages are scams.

The Belgrade Police Department does not communicate with the public by text message regarding citations, parking tickets, or any other violations. Neither do the courts, the State of Montana, or any legitimate law enforcement agency.

No legitimate government agency will demand payment in the form of gift cards. If a message asks you to pay a fine or fee using gift cards, it is a scam.

We would also like to take this opportunity to point out that there are no toll roads in Montana. Any message claiming you owe money for an unpaid toll in Montana is not legitimate. The Montana Department of Transportation does not issue fines to individuals in this way.

These scams are designed to create urgency and confusion. If you receive a message that seems suspicious or does not feel right, do not respond or send payment. Instead, contact your local law enforcement agency to verify the information.

When in doubt, pause and verify before taking any action.

Election season is in full swing, and we’re seeing a big increase in political signs around the community.

We want to give everyone a friendly heads up that we’ve also been seeing a number of signs placed in locations where they’re not allowed, per state law and city code. This includes publicly owned property such as schools, City of Belgrade property (including boulevards), and on public infrastructure like sign posts and stop signs.

Over the next few days, Belgrade Code Enforcement will begin removing signs placed in these unlawful locations. Please be aware that any signs collected will not be stored or available for pickup and will be disposed of.

If you’d like to keep your signs, we strongly encourage you to remove them from any restricted areas as soon as possible.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep our community in compliance during this busy election season.
