33 NOSC LA personnel that mobilized to support the fight against the COVID-19 global pandemic utilized the Distributed Mobilization (DM) process. As part of the ongoing efforts to minimize COVID-19 Coronavirus transmission, Commander, Navy Reserve Force (CNRF) is waiving several telework administrative requirements and increasing telework options for Reserve Sailors.

In order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and for the safety of all hands, and their families, I’ve directed the NOSC Los Angeles Staff to begin teleworking from home starting Wednesday, 18 Mar 2020 and for the foreseeable future (at least for the remainder of this week). The NOSC will remain open and will be staffed with minimum personnel to support Reservists that need imminent mobilization and mission-essential (ME) operational support. The staff’s landlines will be forwarded to their respective recalls as they operate in a telework environment. NOSC LA Reservists are strongly encouraged to work with their Unit Leadership on telework and/or drill reschedule plans for the time being.
NOSC LA will continue to employ risk-based measures for the protection of its’ Sailors and their families. We are re-emphasizing the use of good judgement, and avoiding contact with sick people, practicing proper hygiene, and cough/sneeze etiquette. We encourage our Sailors and their families to follow personal health protective guidance put out by the CDC and Office of Personnel Readiness as we continue to navigate these uncharted waters combating the spread of COVID-19.

The physical spaces of NOSC Los Angeles will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, 12 Mar 2020, in order to test it's Continuity of Operations (COOP) capabilities and will be teleworking remotely. Items of note:
* Staff will be up on emails via OWA with access to websites in their area of expertise (NROWS/DTS/NSIPS/EDM/MRRS) in order to continue to support our Reservists.
* Staff desk lines will be forwarded to their respective recall in order to maintain that level of connectivity with our Reservists.
The NOSC CDO will still be available via mobile as necessary. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we test this vital capability.
NOSC Los Angeles will resume normal operations on Friday, 13 Mar 2020.

Our Story
Staffed by Full-Time Support (FTS) personnel, where the Selected Reservists (SELRES) Sailors come to do their weekend drills. Intended mostly to handle administrative functions, medical/dental readiness, classroom style training and mobilization of SELRES. Also, tasked to provide personnel, both FTS staff and SELRES, for participation in Funeral Honors Details.
Mission Statement: To generate mobilization readiness of Navy Reserve Units by providing administrative services, training support, and world class customer service to Reserve personnel in support of surge and operational requirements for the Navy and Marine Corps team and Joint Forces.
Vision: NOSC Los Angeles will be the premier NOSC in RCCSW, incorporating the best practices of world class customer service and support for our Sailors.
Guiding Principles: We recognize the unique challenges our Sailors face as Citizen-Sailors. We commend all Sailors who strive to achieve this work-life balance, while continuing to provide dedicated service to the U.S. Navy and our great Nation.
NOSC Los Angeles will partner with Reserve Unit Commands to ensure Sailors are meeting Navy requirements in the key pillars of Medical Readiness, Training, Career Development, Pay and Equal Opportunity.
Unit CO’s and leadership will ensure strict adherence to and accountability to the mission, vision, and guiding principles throughout their units.
Each Sailor will assume paramount responsibility for their medical readiness, training, and requirements to achieve a satisfactory year. It is incumbent on you to prepared to mobilize in support of the United States Navy Combat Team.
We will treat everyone with Dignity and Respect and will exemplify the Navy Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment in all our efforts.
