What does the city’s Active Transportation Board do? Get projects like this in motion. After Greenway users noticed some issues with the safety of crossing the entrance to Village Pet on Mercy Way, board members came to the city with some recommendations to improve that crossing. The Street Department installed some pavement markings, a proven way to increase safety by visibly increasing awareness. We appreciate this group for creating positive change for everyone involved.

Nobody panic. This is a temporary closure and should be the last one (fingers crossed). Expect one lane traffic on the bridge on McNelly Road for a few hours this Friday, Sept. 4, starting at 9 a.m.

🚧 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: 𝗠𝗰𝗡𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗱 / 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝟰𝟬 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲

The McNelly Bridge will be reduced to one lane beginning at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 4, while the contractor completes remaining punch-list work.

Traffic will continue across the bridge using temporary signals. The work is expected to take only a few hours, and both lanes will reopen once the contractor is finished.

Drivers should use caution and allow additional time while traveling through the area.

Thank you for your patience while the remaining work is completed!

This is sure to be a good time. Bring the family for lunch and some fun activities with the Bella Vista Fire Department at this year's Kids Day Saturday, Oct. 10.

We are so excited for the annual BVFD Kids Day event, set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Bella Vista Fire Department Training Center, 7 Carlisle Drive.

Join us to close out Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4-10). Attendees can watch firefighter demonstrations such as rappelling from our training tower, cutting up cars (vehicle extrication), and live fire in our burn room, where you can feel the heat from a safe distance and viewpoint.

Kids can also enjoy the ambulance and fire equipment touch-a-truck, a gear try-on station, coloring station and sidewalk chalk, photo booth, and more.

And of course, back by popular demand – a chance to spray a real fire hose.

The tentative schedule of demonstrations will include rappelling and extrication demos within each hour of the event, plus two live burn demos at noon and 1 p.m.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for free, so plan to bring the family for lunch.

Chuck will be missed around the city (but for some reason we think we will still see him from time to time...). He is always there to help with projects or maintenance or any other issue we have arise. Not only his knowledge and skill sets will be missed, but his overall kindness and generosity as well. Best to him in his retirement.
