Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department personnel responded to a house fire at 6:15 this morning at 1184 Norwood Ave. The preliminary investigation shows that the fire started in the garage. Two adults and two children were able to escape the house on their own and were not injured. Three cats died as a result of the fire. The investigation into the cause continues.

Firefighters responded to a crash this morning at Drew Street and Old Coachman Road. The driver of an eastbound pickup lost control, veered over the median and the westbound lanes before crashing into a multitude of things, including a traffic signal pole. The 60-year-old driver was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert. A bicyclist nearby was hit by flying debris but was not injured.

Late Tuesday night, our crew members responded to this crash in the 1600 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. A Dodge Durango being driven by a 15-year-old went out of control and slammed into a house and parked car. The teen sustained minor injuries.
